The LEGOLAND Windsor website released the following image in a survey recently, depicting what is apparently a collection of minifigs that may be released next summer, starting around June 2010.

Collectible LEGO minifigs

The collection appears to include the following 16 figures:

  1. Caveman
  2. Cheerleader
  3. Clown
  4. Adventure-dude
  5. Crash Test Dummy
  6. Diver
  7. American Indian
  8. Magician
  9. Ninja
  10. Doctor/Nurse
  11. Robin Hood / Forestman
  12. Robot
  13. Emo Boy
  14. Astronaut
  15. Lucha Libre / Superhero
  16. Zombie (!)

(At this point, I think there’s enough corroborating evidence to report this as fact. I’ll save the analysis for another day. Via Brickset.)

TRU BOGO [News]

Well, the scarcity of good LEGO deals on Black Friday seem to be no indication of the good deals afterward. Toys R Us is having a Buy 1, Get One Half Off All LEGO Setsicon sale through December 5.

Firefighting LEGO Unimog reveals the joys of complicated builds

Moritz Nolting (nolnet) beat me to it, but I don’t begrudge him this awesome Unimog.

What makes Moritz’s Unimog extra-cool is the extra ground clearance he achieved by building the chassis studs-down.

Cyber Monday LEGO deals from Amazon.com

We weren’t especially impressed with the selection of Black Friday deals on LEGO last week, but Amazon.com is making up for it a bit with some pretty good deals on LEGO today, “Cyber Monday” (when many people buy online for the holidays).

Overall, there’s 20% off select LEGO, but some of the best deals are on items normally excluded from other sales, like LEGO Star Wars and MINDSTORMS NXT.

Head on over to Amazon.com to check out the deals.

Vinnidan Interceptor

One thing I really like about the Homeworld universe is that it inspires a lot of great LEGO creations, all with a unifying aesthetic (stripes!), but that also provides builders with enough flexibility to add their unique touches of their own. Kurt Vinnedge (vìnn) gives the Taiidan his own spin, resulting in the Vinnidan Interceptor:

Felix finds Atlantis

Felix Greco (gipmetro) is excited about the upcoming release of the LEGO Atlantis sets, as am I. As sets trickle into stores, Felix may be the first to build a creation of his own design — this lovely submersible:

The submersible is accompanied in its undersea endeavors by a certain Artimus Rhodes:

The General in his Pavilion

Rod Gillies (2 Much Caffeine) applies his skills to medieval Japan with his latest creation, “The General is summoned to war”.

The stone wall has a great texture, and the green roof isn’t something you see that often in LEGO samurai/ninja creations (though they certainly exist in real life). My favorite detail is the fountain.

Pazu saves Sheeta on a buzzy flappy thing that goes ブンブン

I’m not doing this on purpose, I promise. Right after I’d blogged Howl’s Moving Castle and Nausicaä, I saw this flaptter by MooseBot over on the left side of the page. I blame technology.

Nausicaä soars on the wings of her Mehve glider, safe above the Sea of Corruption

Jon Hall brings us more Miyazaki goodness with Mehve, Nausicaä’s glider from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.

LEGO Nausicaä and Mehve glider

What really struck me about this creation, though, is the custom minifig that Jon made.

The breathing mask is made from a minifig bandanna, while Nausicaä’s hood is made from a farmer’s cowl.

I’ve had enough of running away, Sophie. Now I’ve got something I want to protect.

There’s just something about the worlds of Hayao Miyazaki that inspire LEGO builders to new heights. This Howl’s Moving Castle by O-SAWA may be my favorite yet.

LEGO Howl's Moving Castle

From battleship turrets and chicken feet to houses and a big orange tongue, O-SAWA’s castle has it all.
