This is a splendid little diorama by flickr user SweStar, depicting the summoning of a Stone Golem. The uneven base is very nicely done, and the builder has found a great way to incorporate the spirals of transparent 1×2 plates.

When ugly becomes pretty.
Shannon Sproule (Shannon Ocean) gave me some sage advice when I was trying to no avail to build a real world starfighter. He told me “to make it look ugly”. I knew exactly what he meant, yet I still find that I have trouble with it…perhaps that is because I am so pretty ;)
But one thing is for sure, Shanno can make ugly look like a Victoria’s Secret model…
He has already posted his two entries to the contest, so that means I have full reign to post these. Which is great, because I have been wanting to feature literally every entry on here…I have been sitting on my hands for too long now. So thanks Shanno, I am glad you still feel the need to build these. You keep building them, and I will keep smilin’!!
…and for the record I am not saying that Shannon isn’t pretty too!
Nature and modernity
Dave Kaleta‘s 1007 Mountain Drive drew a lot of attention at Brickworld 2012. This creation has both an intriguing overall design as well as individual fascinating details such as the swimming pool, porsche and more that you can see on Flickr.

Logan (CaptainInfinity) knows just what puts a smile on my face! He has just updated his previous SAFS Space Type Fireball with some new hardware and cool little base. I haven’t built any Maschinen Krieger stuff for quite some time…but this makes me tweak!
I love that rocket firing…but the ‘title’ on the base just makes me giggle :D

Almost shockingly, I have managed to build something. I’ve been having quite a lot of fun lately playing with Neo-Classical architecture in microscale, and the recent abundance of good microscale pillar pieces, like the telescope piece, are conducive to that. Anyway, here’s the Temple of Ehlonna, goddess of the Forest, who makes her home in a great ancient tree.

In Space, No One Can See You if You’re Stealthed
Jack McKeen’s Spaceghost craft is modeled after the F-117 Stealth Fighter, and looks like a mashup of the Nighthawk and the Space Shuttle. Jake’s done a terrific job of capturing the aesthetic of NASA craft while adding his own flair to it, creating a very unique entry to the ongoing Real World Space Fighter contest on flickr.

Poseidon
We have already blogged Paul Hetherington’s (Brickbaron) beautiful Atlantis model, and now it turns out that it was actually only a WIP of even larger and more impressive creation. Poseidon is built for Vancouver Lego Club‘s Mythology exhibit at the Surrey Museum, running July through to September 15th 2012.
