OK, so we all know the movie Pixels didn’t turn out how we’d wished a real life- and video game-mashup would, but it’s still a mighty cool concept. South Korean professional builders Olive Seon have run with that concept with an awesome diorama loosely inspired by the movie Pixels. Featuring the iconic scene of Pac-Man munching down a street, the builders have added some characters from Minecraft and several other games also. See how many game characters you can find!
Wolfenstein: The New Order was one of my favorite games of 2014, with its crazy yet immersive alternate World War II timeline. SHARPSPEED built one of antagonist Deathshead’s dog-like war machines, the Panzerhund. The LEGO version looks just as vicious and armored as the mechanized hounds roaming an alternate 1960s Berlin.
Fans of the Dead Space video game will no doubt recognize this iconic mining vessel and its horror-infested corridors. This microscale replica by Rat Dude captures the ship’s iconic ribbed hull and has the right amount of details reflected in its greebled areas.
2015 is an exciting year for Star Wars fans, with The Force Awakens coming to theaters and a long-awaited new entry in the Star Wars Battlefront series of games. I’ve been having a blast playing the new Battlefront on Xbox, so I was inspired to expand my arsenal of gaming weapons with the classic E-11 Blaster Rifle.
Battlefront was lovingly crafted by EA Dice to be true to the Star Wars original trilogy (they took 3D scans of the original props to create their digital counterparts), so I trusted that their in-game model of the E-11 was accurate enough to build from. For scale reference, I used the dimensions of a Sterling SMG, the gun from which the original E-11 film props were built. Working features on the LEGO replica include a moving trigger and a folding stock.
Finally, I’ll leave you with a first person perspective view. It should appear familiar to those who have played Battlefront.
Feeling motivated by the upcoming Wii U title Xenoblade Chronicles X, Jason Corlett built his interpretation of a Heavy Skell. Those overhead cannons look like they’ll ruin someone’s day.
One of the standout features of Skells that I like are the blade-like thrust packs. The use of well integrated Bionicle blades on the thrusters complete the Xenoblade look.
I’ve been playing a LOT of Halo 5 recently – it’s a welcome return to form for the series after the slight let-down of Halo 4. As a result, I’m embarrassed I missed this stunning build until now. Cody Fowler took 3 years to put together this excellent recreation of UNSC Infinity, the spaceship star of the Halo franchise…
Cody has managed to perfectly capture the ship’s lines — no small feat when it’s such a collection of angles. I’m sure he was pleased, but also slightly nervous, when the latest game featured the Infinity so prominently on its loading screen. If you’re building a model from a source with such a rabid fan-base, you’re going to have to get the details right!
Beyond the shaping and the impressive scale (134 studs long), the blue LED lights within the vessel really add to the feel of a working starship. But for me, the little touch that sets this model apart is the attention Cody paid to the base. Often big spaceship builds like this are supported on ugly stacks – a functional afterthought detracting from the appearance of the model as a whole. Here, Cody has gone the extra mile, lavishing the same attention to detail on this element as the main ship itself. Great stuff.
The spacecraft of Destiny are as much an inspiration to LEGO builders as its its weaponry. Here are two jumpship models that would make the Tower’s shipwright proud.
Jake is back with a follow-up to his Phaeton-class jumpship. His CX-20 Spindle Demon is just as stunning.
Otto Blees built an equally impressive model of the LRV3 Javelin jumpship.
The LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack is currently 15% or $15 off from Amazon.com. I’m still working on completing the game as best I can without all of the expansion packs so I can write a review here for everybody, but the game crashed on save recently and took a month’s worth of save data with it.

You can’t play Fallout 4 until Nov. 10, but if you’re still yearning for that distinct neo-1950’s nuclear apocalypse, LEGO builders have you covered with some really top-notch Fallout-inspired creations.
The first is this gigantic Fallout workshop by Pierre. Complete with power armor, a collectible Vault-Tec bobblehead, an adorable Dogmeat, and loads of other recognizable items, this model is deceptively large, coming in at almost 5 feet wide and close to 2 feet high.
Here’s another picture of Dogmeat, because he’s just too cute. Who’s a good dog?
Next up is a minifig scale version of the same scene, by our very own Simon Liu. It also plays host to power armor, and contains a fantastic printed Nuka Cola machine.
And now that’s we’re looking at minifig scale, here’s an incredibly detailed Vault Dweller minifig by DSCustoms. The only problem with this guy (and my in-game avatar) is that it doesn’t show the 400+ lbs of everything I’ve ever found, ever that I’m carrying.

ZaziNombies is well known on YouTube for creating Exotic-tier weapons from the popular video game Destiny. His latest is the Sleeper Simulant, an exotic fusion rifle new to Destiny’s The Taken King expansion. The paneling surrounding the barrel as well as the use of custom chrome LEGO parts makes this replica pop. Watch as ZaziNombies demonstrates and discusses his Sleeper Simulant replica in this short 2 1/2 minute video.
Platformers from the PlayStation/Nintendo 64 era had an iconic style to them. Marin Stipkovic nailed this style with a LEGO diorama containing recognizable elements from Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back.
There are several cool features shown in this album, one of which is a hidden garage with Crash’s kart from Crash Team Racing. The garage can be lit up by activating one switch to open the windows, and another to turn on the lights.
Today, children and adults from all over the country will be donning their festive creepy and cool costumes for a night out gathering goodies or having fun with friends. But I know two particular builders who probably won’t be out and about. At all. Because right now they are locked in a life-and-death struggle for victory.
For those who are surprised, the Iron Builder is a recurring contest which pits two talented builders against each other in a duel to best incorporate a secret part. The current round is bringing forth some crazy good LEGO creations!
Chris Maddison brings us our favorite feathered ballistic missile from the ever-popular Angry Birds game.
When you finally get over how eye-catching and realistic the build looks, the clever simplicity is stunning. As a side note, in case you hadn’t heard, you can expect official LEGO Angry Birds sets next year.
Not to be outdone, Mike Nieves shows his characteristic System/Bionicle/Technic style with his recreation of Renji Abarai from Bleach.
I’m not very familiar with Anime in general, but a quick Google search shows just how well Mike was able to recreate the distinctive character at this scale.
Both builders have used the black forklift skid (the mandatory secret piece) to full advantage. But who will win?
