LEGO Star Wars is one of the most popular LEGO themes of all time. Far beyond X-wings and TIE fighters, there’s a whole expanded universe of inspiration, and an army of LEGO fans ready to build whatever comes out of George Lucas’s head next.

These are the droids that I’m surely looking for

Builder DOGOD Brick Design certainly found the droids that we were all looking for. These tiny builds of the robots that we know and love so dearly are cleverly built in a slightly 2D form. The flat designs would sit quite nicely in a frame or stuck on a magnet or even on a Christmas ornament. While the building techniques may be simple-looking, DOGOD certainly brought these characters to life with instant recognition. I wonder if we might see the rest of the characters from the Star Wars movies represented in a similar style sometime in the future.

For the love of Star Wars: A focus on Douglas Khoo

You never know what you’re going to get when you ask the right questions. Recently, we had the chance to speak with Douglas Khoo about his work. Douglas is a talented builder who seldom showcases his builds online, but does what he does for the love of it. If the builder’s name rings a bell, that’s because he was part of the crew that was invited to create and build an exhibit for the UNESCO’s Piece of Peace exhibition that will travel the world.

Douglas created this magnificent collage of LEGO Star Wars ships with a silent tribute to the Dark Side. This montage only took Douglas about two hours to complete, and if you did not already notice, it’s inspired by a similar piece by artist Louis C. Hébert from the Bleublancrouge advertising agency from the Star Wars Identities Exhibition over at the Montreal Science Centre, back in 2012. The difference though is Douglas makes use of the negative space a lot more to give the Star Wars ships a showcase of their own and individuality. If you still don’t see Vader there, squint your eyes, take a step back and look again!

When asked about how big a fan he was, Douglas’s answer was – you’ve got to be kidding me. That’s when we were introduced to a showcase of his other masterpieces which all center around the beloved Star Wars theme. With each of these builds, Douglas adds his own twists of interpretation and re-imagination to the scene.

A monument to a different time

Decay is a powerful tool for storytelling and Andreas Lenander has used it to great effect with this old, abandoned AT-AT. Of all Star Wars vehicles, the AT-AT has the most iconic and expressive appearance in a destroyed state. The rust and slight overgrowth place the walker in an environment without a need for a larger LEGO scene, although Andreas has hinted that a diorama might actually be made in the future.

I love how the holes look just like metal plates caving under their own weight, as well as the damaged leg and all the bits dangling from under the body. The skeleton in the corner is also a nice touch, and I like that the builder made it from scratch instead of using a skeleton minifigure.

LEGO Star Wars 5005376 Darth Vader Pod [Review]

The highly anticipated Darth Vader Pod has finally been released. LEGO fans were quite disappointed after it was initially canceled last year for the Christmas period due to manufacturing issues. Since then, we’ve known that the pod’s unique feature is its metallic/chrome-based finish, which drove up the hype when LEGO announced that it was back again for this month’s promotional giveaway. LEGO Star Wars 75212 Kessel Run Millennium Falcon from Solo: A Star Wars Story [Review]

The largest set in the first wave of LEGO Star Wars sets from Solo: A Star Wars Story is 75212 Kessel Run Millennium Falcon at 1,414 pieces for $169.99. The set depicts an earlier incarnation of Han Solo’s iconic freighter, long before he made extensive modifications and upgrades to it in the years leading up to its appearance in A New Hope.

LEGO Star Wars 75209 Han Solo’s Landspeeder from Solo: A Star Wars Story [Review]

The LEGO Star Wars sets from Solo: A Star Wars Story officially hit shelves on Friday, though we were able to bring you a couple early reviews with 75210 Moloch’s Landspeeder and 75207 Imperial Patrol Battle Pack. One of the smallest sets to include the titular hero is 75209 Han Solo’s Landspeeder, which retails for $29.99 in the US. The set includes 345 pieces and two minifigs.

The truth about Ewoks: Tiny terrors that we need to be afraid of

Ewoks have been misunderstood big time! Sure they’re cute and cuddly, but did anyone stop to consider how they nearly roasted Han, Luke, and Chewbacca for a scrumptious meal? Chi Hsin Wei captures three buddies debating where their next dinner might be coming from. Those beady black eyes are quite appropriate with the modified black lever elements and the minifigure scale of C-3PO fits perfectly as a plush toy.

50-inch-long Executor-class Star Dreadnought is a monochrome monstrosity in search of Rebel forces

Don’t you find it unfair that it took the Rebels just a couple of movies to destroy everything the Empire had built across the whole galaxy during many, many years? A Star Wars fan and an extremely talented LEGO fan one case shows compassion to the Empire with a jaw-dropping replica of the iconic Executor class Star Dreadnought ship. This 52-in/132-cm ship consists of more than 7,300 pieces; this is even more pieces than in the biggest LEGO Star Wars 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon set!

Final Solo: A Star Wars Story LEGO set photos just in time for the latest trailer [News]

The LEGO Group have sent us the final LEGO Star Wars set photos for Solo: A Star Wars Story just as the final official trailer has hit the Internet. With the complete set of photos now in hand, this is the perfect occasion to take another look at the sets and compare them to the ships and machines as seen in the trailer. While some of the sets are already in stores, the rest go on sale this Friday, April 13th.

When made out of LEGO bricks you are, look as good, you will not, hmmm?

Large LEGO sculptures made out of mostly regular bricks are most commonly created by LEGO itself for promotional displays, but fan builders sometimes make their own too. Felix Jaensch has done just that with this great rendition of Yoda, which instantly reminds us of the old 7194 Yoda UCS set.

There’s a lot of good shaping here, especially because a large percent of the character is a robe, which you can see better in this shot of Yoda’s back.
