LEGO Star Wars is one of the most popular LEGO themes of all time. Far beyond X-wings and TIE fighters, there’s a whole expanded universe of inspiration, and an army of LEGO fans ready to build whatever comes out of George Lucas’s head next.

Kyle Katarn’s Moldy Crow by RogueBantha

One of the things that got me into Star Wars back in the 90’s was the PC game Dark Forces (released in 1995).

Tim “RogueBantha” Goddard has created a vignette to showcase his microscale Moldy Crow (an older creation):

I wasted far too many hours late at night blowing stormtroopers away with the concussion rifle and avoiding thermal detonators thrown by three-eyed Grans (“Tink tink tink…BOOM!”). Ah, good times…

Tim’s latest is actually a lovely little Theta-class shuttle, shown here with Palpatine and a pair of clones:

Mac Troopers

Flickr member 713 Avenue recently developed an interest in photo shooting Star Wars trooper minifigs with Apple products and other whimsical settings. The results are interesting and comical, they definitely define some personality underneath the helmets of these minifigs.

Instructions for upcoming 10186 General Grievous set [News]

We recently glimpsed pictures of the upcoming General Grievous figure set, but for those who can’t wait until summer to display the General, LEGO has instructions available (Part 1 and Part 2). Matt (Pepa Quin) found out that he has most of the pieces to build the model.

Republic Gunship by Mike Psiaki

Mike Psiaki (pronounced like “psyche”) updates his Republic Gunship with the new look of version 2. Besides the mastery craftsmanship, it’s interesting to note the balance between studded elements and tiled elements that results in the varied texture of the ship.

Buy LEGO: 10030 Imperial Star Destroyer on clearance at LEGO Shop

Okay, I think this is mildly noteworthy, since it means the Imperial Star Destroyerâ„¢ is going away forever soon, but it also gives me an excuse to remind our loyal readers that running Brothers-Brick.com isn’t free, and your help is always very much appreciated. ;-)

If that’s not your thing, how about some of the following lovely products?

Matt Armstrong micros Rocko’s steampunk TIE fighter

Rocko’s steampunk TIE fighter has inspired Matt Armstrong to make his own micro version:

Okay, so the colors aren’t exactly the same, but the one-piece steam makes up for it.

Sjaak Alvarez makes funny LEGO Star Wars animations

Animator Sjaak Alvarez uses Autodesk 3ds max 9 and Adobe After Effects CS3 to create really cool (and funny!) videos set in the LEGO Star Wars universe.

Here’s his latest, “It’s hard to be a Stormtrooper II”:

In addition to videos, Sjaak has great tutorials for those of you who might want to try your own hand at LEGO CG animation. Check out Bricks3D both for the tutorials and more videos.

Belated Jedi Steamfighter by Zach Clapsadle

You know how it goes. You build something for a contest, but you don’t get around to finishing it on time or taking pictures. Well, in the case of Zach Clapsadle‘s Jedi Steamfighter, the lateness doesn’t detract from the awesomeness.

Zach says he wanted to create a complete hyperdrive ring. Yowza! Let’s hope he comes back to this project and does that.

Death Star in a dome!

I never cease to be amused by Tim “RogueBantha” Goddard‘s creations confined to domes.

His latest is an iconic scene from A New Hope — the Millennium Falcon gets tractor-beamed into a Death Star hangar bay as our heroes try to rescue a certain princess. As always, more pics on Flickr
