Ernesto Carillo has posted his completed diorama of an Imperial factory that produces AT-STs (or “chicken walkers”). The scene is full of technical detail, and the lighting effect added to the photo is excellent.
It’s official, the 10198 Tantive IV (Rebel Blockade Runner) playset will be released in September at a reasonable $149.99 for 1,408 pieces and 5 minifigs including the exclusive Captain Antilles.

I’m not advocating a particular political position in the epic (imaginary) Classic Space vs Star Wars battle, this is just funny. Day 197 by Ken (KWG73) is titled “A Good Kicking.”
Ken’s been doing a regular 365 day photo project on flickr in which he displays great photographic skill, but during the last several weeks he’s been icing the cake by using more and more of his classic space figs. They started off just romping in a bowl of M&M’s, but have moved on to bigger and better things.
Photos of his visit to the abandoned Bangour Village Hospital are also good for inspiring post-apocalyptic creations. (Shout out to Josh’s Northern State Hospital photo set).

It’s Emperor Palpatine jump-starting Darth Vader’s roadster with force lightning. What more is there to say?
I admire anybody who can sustain a routine for a whole year, and especially anyone who can do it with creativity. Having LEGO involved helps a bit too. Two people have ongoing projects that I’ve especially enjoyed, in which they commit their LEGO selves or minifigs to a series of adventures.
The first is Sarah Mitt (Sarah.Mitt’s 365), who in this scene (day 23) has her LEGO self climbing the furry mountain of doom. (Kitty references also help keep my interest)
The second series I’ve enjoyed is by Gareth Payne, (-Gareth-), who’s “Year of the Fett,” has a Boba Fett minifig wandering the world with various sidekicks or interacting with the world. This picture he posted on day 251 is one of my favorites:
Sarah is now on day 68, and Gareth is on day 288. Keep on trucking!
Speaking of color, we’ve come to expect a certain chromatic consistency from Rong Yiren. Though his animal-shaped mecha are certainly gorgeous, it’s always nice to see a builder branch out.
In this scene depicting stormtroopers off to work after the end of the Evil Empire, I particularly like R2-D2 wearing a tie.

Following quickly on the latest LEGO Star Wars and Indiana Jones sets, 8038 The Battle of Endor and 7749 Echo Base
are also now available from the LEGO Shop online.
The Endor set includes 12 minifigs and a great-looking AT-ST. The rebel commando minifigs have torsos that will work really well for military minifigs.
For only $25, Echo Base has a Tauntaun — let me repeat: a Tauntaun!!! — Han Solo, two rebel troopers (with new goggles), and two Imperial snowtroopers.
LEGO Space Police, Agents 2.0 and other third-quarter/summer 2009 LEGO sets have been out for a month or so, but the rest of the new sets are now available from the LEGO Shop online.
First up, 10196 Grand Carousel incorporates Power Functions and plays music. The set is also the first to feature tan beards.

LEGO builders and Star Wars fans, including the San Diego LEGO User’s Group (SandLUG) and From Bricks to Bothans (FBTB) converged on LEGOLAND California last weekend (June 13 and 14) and set up several tables across from The Big Shop. This isn’t an effort at self-promotion, but more a desire to share a few of the great creations that I’m pretty sure the builders don’t have time to post online or the creations are just too cool to pass up.
In addition to Mark Borlase’s gigantic Hoth diorama (it tragically took a “humpty dumpty” on the way back to Las Vegas) has been featured on The Brothers Brick before, here are a few of the other notables:
Cooperatively built Sarlacc Pit by Andy Grubb (anderson.grubb) and Gary McIntire (MrGSnot). Check out my other photos which show Sarlacc’s stomach contents, perhaps the coolest feature. Yummy.
Probably the most coveted creation at the display, people were quite literally offering to buy this “Star Wars: A New Hope” chess set created by Brandon Griffith (icgetaway) right off the table, thinking it was an official set. That good. Playing with toys are (left to right) Ryan Wood (lights) and Andy Grubb.
SandLUG member Brian Heins built this Ronto that has such great coloration and was quite playable.
