Our friends over at Brotherhood Workshop have teamed up with “How it Should Have Ended” to create this hilarious brick-built alternate ending to The Force Awakens. I won’t spoil the funny with commentary — just watch the video.
With the movie coming out on DVD & Blu-ray in a few weeks, plus summer 2016 LEGO Star Wars sets just around the corner, expect the recent lull in LEGO Star Wars creations to end fairly soon…
.Tromas is particularly talented at designing compact minifig-scale starships. He’s back again with an awesome model of YB-81 bomber. Its main weapon might not look to impressive, but don’t be fooled. In fact, this small craft is packed with all kinds of gun barrels and bombs. There are dual laser cannons, a bomb bay, a modular concussion missile pod… you name it.
The bomber’s rear also deserves your appreciation. Those nozzles and the spot-on use of irregular pieces here and there make this starfighter into a lovely model.
Markus19840420 continues to impress with his LEGO Star Wars dioramas. Following up his Sullust scene, he presents a slice of Echo Base from The Empire Strikes Back, impressive in both size and detail. The carved snow cave look, hanging lights, maintenance bridges, and runway lights make the whole scene feel authentic. I won’t overlook Mike Psiaki’s X-wing and Larry Lars’s Snowspeeder, both great models recreated by Markus from their respective building guides, with some modifications.

Check out this iconic scene from Return of the Jedi where the rebels attack the secret back entrance of the Imperial bunker on Endor. Dunedain98‘s build packs a ton of action and detail into a small space. The various plants, particularly those spot-on Redwood tress, are impressive. But why is Chewie with the ground crew instead of inside a stolen AT-ST? Han will never be able hot-wire that door! Oh wait, nevermind. The doors are already open. Phew, that was a close one.
While LEGO builders in many other parts of the world have been enjoying the first quarter LEGO sets since January, LEGO is finally releasing about 45 new sets on March 1st in the US. In addition to the Captain America: Civil War and Elves sets we’ve known were planned for release on March 1st, we finally have the official release in the US of the new Ninjago “Skybound” sets, Star Wars battlepacks, and LEGO Super Heroes Mighty Micros.

To avoid duplication and showcase a broader variety of LEGO creations, we don’t often feature updated versions of LEGO models we’ve already highlighted, even if they’re significantly improved. But Will Galbraith and his friend Takamichi Irie decided to collaborate on an improved, more functional version of Taka’s BB-8, and the result gets a huge thumbs up from me!
The main challenge was that Taka was off in the UK studying, with Will back in Japan. The pair collaborated remotely to research BB-8’s various compartments, disassemble Taka’s original model, add the compartments to the sphere, and update the design of the head. Will documented the whole process on Twitter, so be sure to check that out — along with Will’s write-up on Flickr.
There is definitely no proven recipe for an awesome starship. Sometimes it’s all about huge size and sometimes the color scheme is what amazes people the most. But the latest NovaFire by TBB alum .Tromas somehow achieves a brilliant result by just putting the right pieces in the right places — otherwise, I can’t tell why this ship looks so cool.

The modified Sienar-FS SL-75e Logistics Mule (as TR calls it) looks pretty heavy, but not overladen. This balance is particularly hard to maintain, and this time deserves applause.
Moreover, NovaFire includes a cargo pod which was modified to become a prison cell. This playability feature makes the model even more nifty. And I already know which minifigs I’d put inside to help them escape!

Hachiroku24 has built a cracking recreation of an iconic Star Wars scene – the bridge of the Super Star Destroyer Executor.
The details are spot-on, with Imperial officers just visible in the sunken-floor control areas, but it’s the lighting setup for the photo which really sets this model apart. Also, the reflections (normally the bane of a LEGO builder’s life when it comes to taking photos) are used to excellent effect. Great stuff.
Boba-1980 wanted a way to show off his LEGO Star Wars Microfighter X-Wing, Millennium Falcon, and TIE Interceptor, so he built this scene of a Rebel base under attack. The whole model has a great chibi vibe, perfectly blending minifigs and microscale just like the official microfighter sets.
Over the weekend, TBB brought you photographs and videos of the newly unveiled 2016 LEGO Star Wars sets at Toy Fair New York. The new sets included a few sets and figures from the brand new Disney XD animated series LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures which is set in an era between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
The trailer for the new series has begun circulating online and gives further details about the Freemakers, a family of three sibling scavengers who collect damaged ships and parts from across the Galaxy, turning the old parts into new ships — called “uglies” in Star Wars lore.
The three siblings, Kordi, Zander, and Rowan, become involved in an epic battle of good vs evil when youngest brother Rowan discovers part of a light saber forged entirely of Kyber Crystals.
Folklore tells of a Jedi Master who forged the Kyber Saber, a lighsaber made entirely of Kyber Crystals. When it proved to be too powerful, the Jedi Master shattered it, and scattered the crystals throughout the galaxy, to keep the power out of evil’s hands. With help from their droid Roger and a ‘shero’ named Naare, the siblings begin a quest across the galaxy to retrieve the Kyber Crystals before the Emperor does.

The 2016 New York Toy Fair continues through tomorrow, but with the LEGO preview event we attended on Saturday morning, we’re ready to summarize our coverage here at The Brothers Brick. The biggest news from Toy Fair was the official unveiling of 75098 Assault on Hoth.
Let’s just say that the reaction from the LEGO Star Wars fan community was … mixed, as illustrated by this useful diagram that’s been circulating on Facebook (we’re trying to dig up the original source — give him or her a shout-out in the comments if you know).

Thanks to our man on the ground, Dan Rubin, we have the juicy details about a ton of new sets revealed by LEGO at the 2016 Toy Fair being held in New York today. In addition to the complete details about 75098 Assault on Hoth posted earlier today, we’ll be bringing you information on new sets in various LEGO themes over the course of the weekend. But let’s get started with the theme you all really wanna see: STAR WARS!
As well as the new battle packs and microfighters that we reviewed in detail last month, there are new sets spanning the original trilogy, prequel trilogy and Rebels animated series. We also got a close-up look at a couple of sets from the brand new Disney XD animated series LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, which follows the exploits of a bunch of scavengers called the Freemakers, and is set in an era between Empire and Jedi.
