Jarek‘s Starcraft Battlecruiser ranks among one of the best I’ve seen. This is his biggest creation to date, taking a month to complete. The model features Jarek’s smooth yet textured building style, rendering the ship true to the original.

Mark Stafford builds the past and the future
Mark Stafford (Nabii) built two new creations from distinct time periods. The first hails from the future in a scene depicting a firefight in a busting metropolitan skyscape of the future, built for Keith’s You Control the Action Contest. The highlights of the scene are the action effects showing the laser blasts, smoke trails, and even small explosions.
On the flip side, Mark’s East African castle for Colossal Castle Contest 7 brings a new style to the castle genre with its mesmerizing textured and curved walls created using countless 1X2 plates and 1X1 round plates. The market scene is full of details and interacting minifigs.
Daedalus landing
I’m still trying to recover from shock knowing that a 15-year-old built this. I thought Sven Junga‘s earlier Juggernaut had set the bar for what TFOLs are capable of, but this diorama from Stargate Atlantis clearly blows me away.
The Daedalus ship itself is already an impressive stand-alone piece. The texture of the hull nicely resembles the thick metal armor on many sci-fi spaceships.
Fatbot rolls out
Home, home on the... moon?...
Shannon Sproule (Shannon Ocean) brings us a sample of life in the year 2001. There’s nothing not to love in this but the transparent yellow plate in the spike is utterly perfect to my eyes. If I were that classic black spaceman I would be in heaven.

Blacktron X4(E) ‘Erinys’
This new ship by Stuart (OptimalControl) brings Neo Blacktron to a cool new level. The unconventional shape really makes an impact.
I also like that there is so much black against black surface detail, it really makes the few spots of color pop out, especially the cockpit. Speaking of the cockpit, it’s fantastic, it’s set at an angle we don’t see often, one that I’m sure took a lot of effort to achieve.
New LEGO Atlantis and 2010 Space Police sets now available [News]
A few of the 2010 LEGO sets are starting to show up online, both from The LEGO Shop and Toys R Us.
5981 Raid VPR and 5982 Smash ‘n Grab
were both designed by Mark Stafford, and include new alien minifigs.
I love the new shark-headed dude in 8060 Typhoon Turbo Sub.
8058 Guardian of the Deep and 8056 Monster Crab Clash
are also out now.
A Beautiful Harpy
VHE-665 Halog
Martin is giving us a nice taste of micro scale space. His new Halog frigate has some cool features. I especially like the use of hinge bricks to create a surface texture, a technique I hadn’t seen before. I’m also keen on the launch bay (or whatever it is) on the front of the ship. The photos are are on Flickr, but there’s more description here.
Vinnidan Interceptor
One thing I really like about the Homeworld universe is that it inspires a lot of great LEGO creations, all with a unifying aesthetic (stripes!), but that also provides builders with enough flexibility to add their unique touches of their own. Kurt Vinnedge (vìnn) gives the Taiidan his own spin, resulting in the Vinnidan Interceptor:
Black Fantasy Attack!
No other title better describes what’s going on in this diorama by David Simmons. This is what happens when you’re out in a remote part of the galaxy and “a godless shape appears out of the blood red darkness, lurching with a sickening, yet inexorable slither towards our brave spacemen who stage a desperate but futile battle.” Check out the details shots in the gallery and scroll down to see a frightening ending.
