We all love a good LEGO Gundam or Macross mecha, but LEGO builders everywhere are also creating excellent models of their own designs. Have a look at them here.

There’s still time to enter the Reasonably Clever Iron Man contest

The Pumping Iron: Extreme Armor Building Challenge is wrapping up over on Reasonably Clever.

Chris Doyle has a great example entry, “Late 1980’s Romantic Comedy Armor”. Ha!

With tons of Exo-Force and BrickArms prizes, less than 20 entries so far, and the contest ending on May 2, this may just be your chance to score some sweet loot. ;-)

Thumping of metal

Japanese mecha master Kwi Chang (Brickshelf) recently won Izzo’s Sci-Fi Industrial Mecha Competition (English info here on TBB) with another excellent heavy industrial mech, illustrated here in a cool background.

The actual model called Type-D9 is quite awesome by itself. You can see another amazing graphic that we’ve blogged earlier here.

Interceptor Rapid Mech Deployment Craft by Kidthor

Kidthor (Brickshelf) is a fairly prolific builder I hadn’t noticed (sorry!) until he posted this brilliant mecha drop-ship:

If that’s not cool enough for ya (and it should be), the mecha has a separate “Lodestar Aerospace Booster”:

Check out more pictures in Kidthor’s Flickr photostream or Brickshelf gallery.

Kevin Guoh gets mechanized

I blogged Kevin Guoh’s Totoro yesterday, but Kevin‘s mecha are even more impressive.

The Black Hat has a chunky chest and shoulders:

A new version of his Gatekeeper looks even more menacing in red and black:

Snakehead mecha by bmck

What better way to continue our green-themed posts on Earth Day than with this great green mecha by bmck? I love the detailing on the end of the gun:

Tim Zarki’s robot wants to help you!

Remember Tim Zarki‘s previous robot? I argued that it stood several hundred feet tall and could walk over tall buildings.

Well, if this latest robot is that tall, we’re in serious trouble:

Treading all terrains in the Sandpiper

Brian Kescenovitz (mondayn00dle) is one of the few builders who usually doesn’t put much color into their models, sometimes conveying the iron/steel utility. Unlike his bulkier mechs, Brian’s latest work is a spindly scout walker called the Sandpiper, constructed with focus to fine detailing mechanisms rather than heavy armor.

Even Mecha howl at the Moon

The Dragonwolf Medium Assault Mecha, by Todd Amacher, borders on extreme niftyness.

Wall-E, the littlest and loneliest robot on Earth

Peter “Graznador” Aoun has captured the look of the adorable protagonist from Pixar’s upcoming film Wall●E:

Seems every path leads me to nowhere...

Here they come to snuff the rooster…

Peter Morris was inspired by the Alice in Chains song “Rooster” to build this rather unique mecha. The torso fits a pilot, and this bad boy is fully posable.

You know he ain’t gonna die…

Rong Yiren built this nifty little mech. I wish I had one…

Dühnlist automaton by Jamie Spencer

Jamie “Morgan19” Spencer is on quite a roll with his custom steampunk creations. Sure, Jamie uses paint to achieve some of the gold coloring, but it’s so darn shiny and cool that even purists have got to give these beauties a closer look. :-D

His most recent creation is a firefighting robot titled “Dühnlist, Flameward of the Deutsches Reich”:

The requisite Morgan19 schematic:

Finally, BuySteampunk.com is holding a contest in which you can actually win a copy of Jamie’s Kriegerhund . The site also has a great interview with Jamie as well.
