Marvel made its LEGO debut in 2002 with the Spider-Man sub-theme of LEGO Studio. Since then we’ve seen LEGO sets based on most films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, X-Men, as well as a steady stream of Spider-Man sets for builders of all ages. Large-scale sets like Avengers Tower, The X-Mansion, and The Daily Bugle have proven incredibly popular with collectors and builders alike.

Who’s that guy with the big, big head?

M.O.D.O.K. — Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing. Easily one of the most distinctive Marvel villains out there. And boy is he out there. Anyway, this uniquely shaped baddie is given his just due in LEGO thanks to Big Easy Bricks. I’m particularly fond of the nested arch/curved slopes to form his signature grimace, as well as the range of motion provided by those Mixel ball joints in the arms. The clouds of jet exhaust are also smartly rendered, with some nice use of 1×1 dome tile to create interesting texture.

M.O.D.O.K. also looks great “in the round”. The rear-facing engine and the ridges of his chair are both very nice, and the use of Hero Factory armor for the shoulder pads scales up perfectly.

This stunning build by Tim Lydy is bursting off the page. From Spider-Man’s tingling spider-sense to Rhino’s furious face, the model portrays a chaotic scene, as our web-swinging hero has his hands full. Eggs are sent flying into the air by Rhino’s charge while a bemused cat hangs onto Spider-Man’s arm. The thin lettering perfectly suits the Spider-Man theme with a fantastic-looking spider symbol. There is also a barcode that completes the comic book aesthetic of the display.

Miles better than the rest

From the fantastic Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, comes this impressive build of Miles Morales. Marius Herrmann has used a variation of unusual techniques to capture Miles’ unique style. The model features a great use of Lego rubber bands; around the eyes and chest as well as the shoe laces of the trainers. Hero factory parts add thickness into the form of the jacket and shorts, creating a nice contrast with the skinny legs of the model. The red details of the jacket are well textured, even red whips make an appearance as tassels. The white part used for the upper section of the trainer had us scratching our heads for a bit, it’s actually a Belville bib piece! The inventive use of parts by Marius contributes to this accurate interpretation of the original design.

LEGO 76237 Sanctuary II: Endgame Battle available for pre-order now [News]

Thanos’ spaceship from Marvel Avengers: Endgame, Sanctuary II, has been revealed as an upcoming LEGO set. The set consists of 322 pieces and 3 minifigures, Thanos, Captain Marvel and Iron Man. The ship spans 14 in. (36 cm) and it is 7 in. (18 cm) long. The official description says it is “small enough to grip in one hand, but large enough for epic adventures”. LEGO 76237 Sanctuary II Endgame Battle is available for pre-order now for US $39.99 | CAN $49.99 | UK £34.99 and will be shipping from October 1.

LEGO Marvel Spider-Man 76178 Daily Bugle revealed with 25 minifigures, including Blade, Punisher & Daredevil [News]

Today LEGO has taken the wraps off the biggest Spider-Man set to date, 76178 Daily Bugle. This massive 3,772-piece set features the headquarters of Spider-Man nemesis (and Peter Parker’s boss) J. Jonah Jameson’s newspaper, the Daily Bugle. The high-rise features a full interior with offices and lots of superhero action, but the set’s real draw is likely to be the minifigures, with a small army included. Altogether, there are 25 minifigures included, including several new superheroes that haven’t appeared in minifigure form before, such as Blade, Punisher, Daredevil, Black Cat, and Firestar. The Daily Bugle will be available for LEGO VIP members starting May 26, with a general release on June 1. It will retail for US $299.99 | CAN $399.99 | UK £274.99.

Revealed just today, Marvel 76178 Daily Bugle includes 3,772 pieces and will be available for US $299.99 | CAN $399.99 | UK £274.99 from LEGO Stores and LEGO.com from May 26 for LEGO VIP members and June 1, 2021 for all. LEGO has spent a lot of time exploring the Spider-Verse. From Monster Trucks to the Spider-Cave(!?), we’ve seen a lot of key characters and locations. One, though, was notable for its absence — the Daily Bugle. Now that lack has been addressed, and in a big, big way, as today we’re able to reveal that the newest set in the LEGO Spider-Man lineup is also the largest. Marvel 76178 Daily Bugle includes 3,772 pieces and will be available for US $299.99 | CAN $399.99 | UK £274.99 from LEGO Stores and LEGO.com from May 26 for LEGO VIP members and June 1, 2021 for all. This huge set includes a whopping twenty-five minifigures, two vehicles, and the eponymous skyscraper.

There’s a ton of details to explore—in fact, so much that we’ve split this review in two. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 76191 Infinity Gauntlet revealed by Walmart [News]

Just as we got the first look at the official images of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes summer sets, Walmart lists one more product on their website, 76191 Infinity Gauntlet. A 590-piece replica of the most powerful weapon in the universe (at least within the Marvel cinematic one), the shiny gauntlet already comes with all six stones saving you a couple of trips around the galaxy and some tough fights. According to the listing, the set will retail for $69.99 in the US, but the availability dates are yet to be confirmed.

Summer LEGO Marvel Super Heroes sets revealed online [News]

Amazon France has listed five brand new LEGO Marvel Super Heroes sets. The summer wave brings both starter sets for younger builders as well as a massive Benatar ship coming with its own display stand. The new products cover the events of Marvel’s Infinity Saga and feature a bunch of models lacking from the line-up of 2019. Regional prices are yet to be confirmed.

An (eight) arms race – Marvel 76198 Spider-Man & Doctor Octopus Mech Battle [Review]

The latest wave of LEGO superhero sets will be released soon, and we’ve been sharing an early look at them. What’s black and white and red all over? – LEGO Marvel 76199 Carnage [Review]

Building on the success of their Star Wars helmets, LEGO has been producing more mini-busts based on other pop culture licenses. In 2020 an Iron Man helmet joined the ranks, and in 2021 we’re getting even more comic-book related heads. First out of the gate is Marvel 76199 Carnage, a Target retailer exclusive that can also be obtained directly from LEGO for US $59.99 | CAN $79.99 | UK £54.99 starting April 11th in the US and Canada, and in the UK on May 1st. This 546 piece set depicts the Spider-Man arch-foe with plenty of creepy detail, but does it have larger appeal beyond a villainous dust catcher? Read on and see!

New LEGO Super Heroes sets listed online, including 76187 Venom bust [News]

Several new LEGO Super Heroes sets have just been listed on LEGO Shop. Besides the 76188 Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile, which was revealed earlier this week, two brand new sets are listed too; LEGO Marvel Spider-Man 76187 Venom and 76198 Spider-Man & Doctor Octopus Mech Battle. All three will be available from April 26.
