New October 2024 LEGO sets now available: Star Wars, Fortnite, Wednesday and more [News]

October is here, which means LEGO fans can expect two annual traditions among this month’s list of new releases: Holiday sets and a showstopper Star Wars collector’s item. This year, in addition to expanding the North Pole village with LEGO Icons 10339 Santa’s Post Office, LEGO offers the modern Botanical touch for your winter decor, while Star Wars fans can hitch a ride on LEGO Star Wars 75397 UCS Jabba’s Sail Barge, along with a gift-with-purchase fit for a Jedi. LEGO’s Fortnite collaboration extends to four new sets, all available now for pre-order [News]

Last year, LEGO announced a collaboration with Epic Games and their smash-hit Fortnite, culminating in the TBB review of LEGO Fortnite survival game that we shared just as 2023 ended. Since that first announcement, many have been wondering if some of the Fortnite favourites would make the jump from the screen to actual bricks. Today, we have the answer with four new sets releasing this fall. With some sets meant for play like the minifigure-laden LEGO Fortnite 77073 Battle Bus and others intended for the mantle with the 1,414-piece LEGO Fortnite 77072 Peely Bone statue, these sets offer tons of references to the game and it’s perennial characters (however, mainstay Jonesy remains missing from these offerings). All four sets are available now for preorder (with links and pictures below), and will be released on October 1st.

The LEGO Group has had its hand in the video game industry for a long time. From its first PC games in the 90’s to popular, cross-platform, licensed titles in Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jurassic World, Harry Potter, DC, Marvel, and of course, Star Wars, it could be said that the company has had a prolific mark on gaming. But, like anything, there have definitely been games along the way that didn’t hit the mark. Join us as we dive into the latest partnership with Epic Games’ Fortnite to see if it’s a flop or winner. Fortnite Mecha Team Leader, heck yeah!

Tackle the Fortnite article? Sure, I can do that! (clears throat) You were delighted when we featured the Loot Llama. You went completely ape-poopy when we showcased the Fortnite Battle Bus. Now prepare to totally lose your collective cookies at the sight of this Mecha Team Leader built by Kelvin Low. Fortnite is a series of three video games that has kept 125 million players up for more than a fortnight at a time with its awesome game play and graphics. It is a pop culture phenomenon that I am definitely savvy to, so don’t go getting it into your heads otherwise. I was totally thrilled when I finally saved the…um…Fortnite princess from the…uh…Fortnite monsters. And I like how the mech looks sort of like Voltron except with silly faces which, as you and I both know, is completely integral to the plot.

Gather your materials and drop into these instructional videos showing how to build a glider and Loot Llama from the wildly popular battle royale! These mini builds were featured in his vignette of the Fatal Fields region.

Prepare to drop into a battle royale in a LEGO Fortnite Battle Bus

Where are we dropping, boys? Daniel Church shows his love for the wildly popular multiplayer Battle Royale mode in Fortnite with his LEGO rendition of the Battle Bus. The blue bus is well detailed, cleverly utilizing minifigure metal detectors as rearview mirrors and with overall shaping on point. Combined with a detailed hot air balloon rig and mount, his Battle Bus model looks straight out of the game.

Be the last man standing with a LEGO Fortnite Tactical Shotgun [Video]

ZaziNombies LEGO Creations expands his arsenal of LEGO gaming weaponry into the massive multiplayer battle royale genre with a replica of the Tactical Shotgun from Fortnite. The chunky style and bold colors of the game were captured well. I especially like the upper handguard area and the screen mounted on the left side. Watch ZaziNombies demonstrate the sliding pump action and compare it to the in-game model in this video.
