DC Comics’ legendary Dark Knight has a solid place in the world of LEGO, with official LEGO Batman sets released in 2006-2008 and again starting in 2012 (As part of the LEGO Super Heroes DC Universe line). Along the way, there have also been two LEGO Batman video games. But all the official products pale in comparison to the wonderful fan-built Batmobiles, Batwings, and variations on the Batcave. See all of them right here on The Brothers Brick.

LEGO Batman Movie 70906 The Joker Notorious Lowrider [Review]

When I reviewed The LEGO Movie nearly three years ago, I wrote, “Forget Ben Affleck, I want Will Arnett as the next Batman.” With The LEGO Batman Movie hitting theaters on February 10, 2017, I’ll finally be getting my wish. Our friends at LEGO HQ sent us all of the new LEGO Batman sets, and we’ll be bringing you reviews of as many as we can over the coming days. Several of the sets have already hit stores ahead of the holidays, so we’ll start with those.

First up, 70906 The Joker Notorious Lowrider includes 433 pieces and 3 minifigures for $49.99.

`

While it remains to be seen whether Joker’s Lowrider will ultimately be considered “notorious,” read our full review for our thoughts on this new set.

What if the Tim Burton Batmobile had a Batpod?

If you ever wondered what the Tim Burton era Batmobile would look like if it had a Batpod, well wonder no more as Vince_Toulouse has made it real. Or, erm, LEGO. While no mention is ever made that this “Dark Bike” is related to Batman or his vehicles, the inspiration is clearly there. Also clearly there: extremely slick lines and superb shaping.

Dark Bike

If you doubted me regarding the relation to the Tim Batmobile, check out the rear three quarter view. It looks a lot like the wings on the back of that version of the Caped Crusader’s car.

Fan built LEGO UCS Batpod in black and very dark grey

Built in black and very, very dark grey, Haeundaddy, whose Kaneda’s bike from Akira we featured a couple days ago, has created a version of the UCS Batpod that will definitely please the Dark Knight. The Batpod is Batman’s escape vehicle integrated into the Tumbler — highly manoeuvrable, but leaves Batman somewhat exposed without the Tumbler’s armour.

Haeundaddy has included the important weaponry with dual front-mounted cannons, machine guns and grappling hooks. The Batpod is all about manoeuvrability so check out that steering mechanism, apparently all under the control of Batman’s broad shoulders. That’s real power steering!

Love is in the air

Pete Strege reminds us of one of the most powerful things in this world — no, not about the Joker’s sense of humor, but about love. Because what could be more romantic than a breathtaking flight in a hot air balloon above Gotham city?

The balloon’s envelope is something of a masterpiece. Those are just regular plates and wedges, but the shape they form is simply perfect. In case you missed it, the black and red diamonds are an extremely smart combination of LEGO parts, including the newest 2×2 wedges.

Superb LEGO rendition of the Batman: Arkham Asylum batmobile

Batman: Arkham Asylum is one of the best Batman games. While the Batmobile didn’t have a starring role in Arkham Knight, it did have a fantastic version of the famous car. Paying homage and giving us the best LEGO recreation of it so far is Eric Druon.

One thing to be noted here is the scale here. This model is (by my count) fourteen studs wide. While it may not seem to big from that metric alone, the Batmobile from 76045: Kryptonite Interception is twelve studs at its widest.

LEGO Zombie Pirate Ghost Batman!

In case you didn’t quite catch that the first time… LEGO ZOMBIE PIRATE GHOST BATMAN!

We don’t often cover minifig-only “builds”. However, this piece of inspired lunacy by Roman was too good to pass up. Besides, as Andrew (our illustrious founder and Editor-in-Chief) occasionally reminds us, The Brothers Brick originally started as a minifig blog.

ZOMBIE PIRATE GHOST BATMAN

Who’d have thought a Pirate Batman and a Ninjago Ghost figure would come together so perfectly. I demand a whole series of undead pirate versions of Batman characters. Vampire Cap’n Joker ahoy!

Visit to Catwoman’s Cat Lair is not going well for Batman

Finally! After seeing others build Batman a LEGO batcave and Joker a LEGO funhouse, someone finally built Catwoman a secret home to call her very own. That someone is Jenn Lee and her kitty-friendly creation is purrfect! After all, what Catwoman lair would be complete without a 70s-style Catwoman costume, an entire wardrobe of sparkly capes, wigs, and handbags, and, of course, a boiling pit of lava to dispose of your enemies? I’m not sure if Batman and Robin were invited or decided to pop by unannounced for a visit, but either way, it seems they’ve overstayed their welcome.
