Lifesize props that will have you asking “Is it LEGO?”

Locate this Witcher medallion in your LEGO collection

Jonas Kramm has graced our site much in recent months as his participation in the Iron Builder contest led him to build numerous popular and incredible models like the Green Sitting Room and Aladdin’s magic carpet. But now he’s back with something else entirely: a Witcher medallion. The wolf head necklace is perhaps the most recognizable icon of the series, and it’s remade almost perfectly here, sized just right for LEGO Witcher cosplay.

Is Danish cuisine just LEGO food?

Actually, this amazing recreation of a gourmet dinner is made by a Russian builder (and cook!) Timofey Tkachev, but the “Danish influence” is unmistakable. All the food is very realistic, with many subtle detailing that reveals Timofey’s professional background. His favourite drink is also obvious from the amount of effort put into the beer bottle and glass. Although the concave shaping of a dinner plate is infamously hard to build in LEGO, but the builder cleverly solved the problem by making the plates “fancy”.

РФФЛ (1)

There is a subtle detail in this creation, because when viewed from above, the scene spells the abbreviation of the Russian LUG (although in Cyrillic and very subtle, so not many casual viewers are likely to catch it).

The parrot is a pirate’s best friend

Master animal builder (and possibly pirate?) Felix Jaensch strikes again with this incredibly accurate Alexandrine parakeet. Exposed studs add a feather-like texture and the parrot’s shape is pretty much perfect. The best part has to be its characteristic beak with a rubber band used as the border. Now we need to see this bird on the builder’s shoulder!

The most subtle way to celebrate Easter

As Christian and Christian-influenced areas of the world celebrate Easter, we see many representations of Easter eggs and religious motives, with an occasional Easter bunny. This rabbit by accomplished animal builder Felix Jaensch is more loosely related to this subject, as it would be a great creation any time of the year, but the timing still pushes it a bit further.

Rabbit

The rabbit is built in Felix’s signature style, a realistic but pixelated shape with some finer shaping on the head. The bright tan overall colour and white belly draw the eye and make for a very fluffy effect. I just want to cuddle it! (…if I could catch it)

Outside of a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside of a dog, it’s too dark to read.

Who doesn’t love a good book? Brother Steven appears to enjoy a healthy tome or two as he has created these lovely brick-bound beauties for the ABS Builder Challenge. Featuring a trilogy of tempting treatises, Steven has chosen my three favorite LEGO colors to represent these classy antique publications. I love the hints of gold laid into the spines of the hardbacks to indicate high-quality binding and printing. Simple idea, perfectly executed, very effective and ingenious.

“Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back” – the final cut

You’re welcome to add your own joke about George Lucas meddling with the Original Trilogy as he cranked out the Prequel Trilogy, but I love Star Wars again so I’ll leave that to the unrepentant cynics. The last LEGO creation we featured by Kit Bricksto brought the wonderful planets of the Star Wars universe to the garden. The builder continues his strong streak with this utterly unique diorama featuring tiny scenes from The Empire Strikes Back on a brick-built film strip set against a larger Hoth hangar scene in a TV. The potted background ties this latest build to Kit’s previous build.

Kickin’ it old(ish) school with Nintendo 64

I have fond memories of (badly) playing games with my best friend as kids. She always beat me, so I didn’t get to play much. When she got the N64, there were more options to play side by side …and I still did quite poorly. However, Old School Brick‘s LEGO Nintendo 64 with controller is executed beautifully. It almost looks like I could pick up the control and key-mash until I manage to not die and find the proximity mines before anyone else.

The gift you should not have opened

I understand it is rude not to open a birthday present, but there have to be exceptions, right? Especially when you get literal hell in a box as a gift! Jme Wheeler tells us an idea popped up in his mind and he just had to build it. He also notes that it is his first attempt at building a skull, and I must say it is indeed a great start. The lighting and subtle editing makes for a powerful image that may or may not carry a deeper meaning.

Building by candlelight

At first glance this melting LEGO candle by Jonas Kramm looks like the real thing. The goopy drips of wax cling together perfectly, and the candlestick has the just the right amount of detailing. Nevertheless, I can’t help but wonder if this candle would look better in white – but what else can an Iron Builder do when forced to work with bright green Duplo squiggle bricks?

Stun your enemies with a LEGO Counter-Strike Zeus X27

Bryce Dempsey expands his arsenal of LEGO gaming weaponry with the Zeus X27 taser featured in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Accuracy to the in-game model in the various thicknesses throughout the body of the stun gun make Bryce’s replica stunning. Watch the builder discuss his replica taser and demonstrate the working trigger and simple firing function in this video.

Light up your desk with LEGO

Finding the right desk lamp can be tricky, but fans of LEGO will love this desk lamp created by Victor.  At first look, this may appear to be a functional desk lamp, but actually it’s a cleverly designed lamp made from LEGO bricks.  The lampshade is made with the shoulder armour from the Baze Malbus constraction figure, and was actually Victor’s starting point when building the lamp. Details like the little on/off button on the base and the 3mm rigid hose posing as an electrical power cable mean that this lamp is appears to be real.

Smells like summertime, tastes like plastic

Though it probably wouldn’t go down smoothly, jsnyder002‘s LEGO burger and fries looks quite delicious, despite going a bit overboard with the ketchup. Contrasting textures of each ingredient, as well as two different colors for the tomato and ketchup, make this one of the best LEGO burgers I’ve seen. The use of green window shutters as lettuce is quite clever as well.
