Our monthly cover photo is this rather menacing Bionicle villain, built by Gamma Raay for Rebrick’s recent Makuta challenge. The creation is not only beautifully detailed, but also incorporates many elements from the original Makuta story and Bionicle series. So no wonder it was one of the winning entries!

LEGO Beatles Yellow Submarine out now, other Ideas sets retiring soon [News]
The new LEGO Ideas set 21306 Yellow Submarine we reviewed on Saturday is out today, available from the LEGO Shop online for $59.99 in the US, with 553 pieces and 4 minifigures.
More importantly, though, LEGO is retiring several iconic sets that you’ll probably want to grab if you don’t have a copy already.
First up, Angus Maclane’s LEGO Ideas set 21303 Wall-E includes 676 pieces at $59.99. Read our review — we loved it.

LEGO Creator Expert 10244 Fairground Mixer and more discounted on Amazon [News]
Creator Expert sets are hard to find in stores, and even harder to find on a good sale. However, Amazon currently has 10244 Fairground Mixer for 33% off its normal $149.99 price, bringing this 1,746-piece set down to just $100.94.
This might be a great time to stock up on an epic present for that special builder in your life — or maybe even treat yourself: Halloween gifts are a thing, right? This is also a great chance to get this two-year-old set on sale before it retires and the price skyrockets. The previous set in the fairgrounds theme, 2009’s 10196 Grand Carousel, is now selling for a staggering ten times its original retail price of $250.
(Update: It looks like Amazon has sold out of the Fairground Mixer.)

STACK Dubai 2016 event report
“Are you busy in May?”, was a question I got in an e-mail early this year from my friend Ed Diment, co-director of Bright Bricks. The organisers had asked them to build models for a LEGO event in Dubai and to get in touch with fan builders, with large collections of models they would be willing to display at the event.
The event in question was Stack and it was the first of its kind in the Middle East. I’ve been very fortunate to attend many different LEGO events in Europe and in the US, but I knew this one was going to be special.

LEGO 21306 The Beatles Yellow Submarine [Review]
LEGO’s crowd-sourced Ideas platform is on a roll this year, with sets and news coming in rapid succession. Early this year we reviewed the 21305 Maze, and learned that the Apollo 11 Saturn V and Adventure Time characters will become sets. At the beginning of this month, LEGO announced the Old Fishing Store, and we reviewed the 21307 Caterham Seven 620R at its launch a few weeks ago. Now, 21306 The Beatles Yellow Submarine is available on The LEGO Shop. The set will retail for $59.99 USD and contains 550 pieces.

LEGO Marvel Superheroes 76060 Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum [Review]
It’s about a week till the general release of the latest Marvel superhero movie Doctor Strange. The plot of the movie still is a mystery, so the LEGO set 76060 Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum is a perfect chance to get a hint at what may unfold on the big screen. This medium-sized set was released in August and was marked as a limited offer both in the US and Canada. The set contains 358 pieces and 3 minifigures, for the price of $29.99.

STACK LEGO Event in Dubai [News]
When you think of Dubai, you may picture incredibly tall buildings, palm trees, desert and fancy cars. All of those are there, but Dubai also houses LEGO fans and the city’s first public LEGO fan event, called STACK, runs 19-22 October, 2016. Tickets for the event are available now!
There are lots of LEGO activities for children and lots of things to see. Bright Bricks have shipped a number of massive models over from the UK and built a few especially for this event, such as a LEGO souk (a traditional Middle-Eastern market) and a 4m tall LEGO model of the Burj Khalifa. You can see a video of their models here. There is also a special fan zone with models built by adult fans from Dubai, the UK, Japan, Hong Kong, Brazil, Portugal and the Netherlands. I am one of these lucky people.
If you’re in Dubai and a fan of LEGO (or you have children who are), be sure not to miss this. The event ends on Saturday and takes place in a purpose-built pavilion next to Dubai Skydive near the Dubai Marina. Tickets can be bought via ticketmaster.
LEGO reveals largest Modular Building yet, 10255 Assembly Square, to celebrate the line’s 10th anniversary [News]
It’s been 10 years since 10182 Cafe Corner released in 2006, and LEGO is celebrating in a big way by revealing the largest Modular Building yet, 10255 Assembly Square. LEGO has gone all-out with this set, fitting in two highly detailed buildings separated by an alley.
With 4,002 pieces, the three-story buildings are packed with detail, housing a bakery, florist’s shop, coffee shop, music store, dentist’s office, photo studio, dance studio, apartment, and a rooftop terrace. As fans of the line have come to expect, clever designs abound, with lots of great architectural details and unusual parts used in ingenious ways, including several brand-new pieces, such as 2×2 and 4×4 quarter circle tiles. See if you can spot Thor’s hammer or the Technic excavator buckets.
The set will retail for $279.99 USD, and will be available Jan. 1, 2017. (LEGO has told us that unlike many other large exclusive sets, there will not be VIP early access for this set.) Check out all the images and read the full press release below.

LEGO Ideas 21307 Caterham Seven 620R [Review]
Back in March, LEGO announced that the next LEGO Ideas set would be 21307 Caterham Seven 620R, designed by Carl Greatrix. Just released this month, we’re pleased to bring our readers a full hands-on review.
This is quite a lovely set with some great parts — both brand new molds and recolored existing parts. Read our full review, but we think you’ll like this set as much as we do.
