It comes as no surprise that the dynamic duo Sean and Steph Mayo (Siercon and Coral) have yet again produced another stunning model that nudges the boundaries of building possibilities a little further out. The Intelligence, as this model is named, is inspired by the classic pin-art toy, and seems to be straight from the pages of a surrealism guidebook.
Matt (MonsterBrick) has a cheery outlook today, bringing us this slice paradise in the pastoral plastic world of the brick. In keeping with his usual M.O., Matt has lots of nifty parts-usages, most notably the creative rainbow and that lovely little well. The classic scalloped-edged sun rising over the hills made from the jungle headdress is also a nice touch.
The first images have escaped into the wild of the flagship set for the upcoming official Simpsons line of LEGO sets.

71006 The Simpsons House is the cartoon family’s Springfield home, a sprawling suburban manor. The set includes the five Simpsons family members: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie, as well as their neighbor Ned Flanders, each with their awkward amalgamation of uniquely-molded head and classic minifig body. The house looks straight from the pages of the Creator theme of domiciles, though this one is a bit bigger, clocking in with an enormous 2523 pieces, which puts it easily in the $250 price range, although the price has not been confirmed yet. The residence hinges open to reveal a full interior, complete with tiled floors. It’s hardly an inspiring design for the LEGO aficionado, but it is, I suppose, fairly accurate to the Simpsons’ humdrum suburbanite existence, and fans of the show will likely find lots to love. Hi everyone! I’m Simon and I’m ecstatic to join The Brothers Brick. When I started this whole LEGO hobby thing it was a dream just to get mentioned on TBB, and it was an unfathomable dream to someday contribute to the Blog that opened my eyes to the possibilities of LEGO.
I hail from the great white north that is Canada (eh), and I really do love poutine (just ask Brickcon people). But my true love is building and playing with LEGO – with the obligatory sound effects of course. My second love would probably be going to conventions – so if you ever see me at one, please introduce yourself!
I grew up reading science fiction books and watching sci-fi shows/movies so my builds are very skewed towards that genre, though I do dabble in other themes as well. Arguably my favorite book was Ender’s Game which was recently turned into a big budget movie.
So now you know all about me, now it’s time for me to get to work and know more about all of you and your builds!

What can I say, this post by Carl Merriam puts a huge smile on my face. When I saw it this morning, I showed it to my son, and he immediately asked if we could watch My Neighbour Totoro tonight…that put a huge smile on my face too.
FateHeart tells us that his mecha is holding two heat picks as close combat weapons. Despite the description, I can’t help but imagine this thing stomping around a huge airfield, directing gigantic aircraft. Weapons aside, this is a cool an solid looking creation. I find the white fins on the back to be especially stylish.
Today is the start of this year’s Dakar rally. This off-road race, for trucks, cars and motorbikes used to run from Paris to Dakar in Senegal, but because of worsening security in Northern Africa is nowadays held in South-America. Back in 1985, a Dutch team led by Jan de Rooy finished second in the truck category. They raced a much modified DAF 3300 known as The Bull, recreated by Nanko Klein Paste (nkle). The model has a Technic chassis and is remote-controlled using Power Functions, to participate in Truck Trial competitions organised by Lowlug.
I don’t think I’m particularly prone to nationalism, except when it comes to my choice of beer and the sort of trucks I like. Forget your Scanias, Volvos or Kenworths; to me DAF trucks are king of the road. DAF has its home base in Eindhoven, in the south of the Netherlands, where I lived for more than ten years. I used to see trucks operated by De Rooy Transport haul DAF cabs through town on a regular basis.
On January 1, LEGO released the newest in the CUUSOO line, the Mars Curiosity Rover. Set designer Stephen Pakbaz submitted his design to CUUSOO, and in due time the project reached it’s 10k votes. The set was revealed at BrickWorld 2013.

A new creation from me, though it’s actually a year old. For some time, I’ve imagined that my Iron Mountain Legion creations needed an enemy. Not just an enemy, but a worth match, beyond the stereotypical post apocalyptic marauders and mutants. My intention was to build something that looked like it belonged in the same world, but with a clearly different design aesthetic. I hope I’ve succeeded, but will let our readers be the judge.
The name means “Flea,” at least if Google translate has steered me right. The shape certainly reminds me of the tiny biting insect, anyway
As much of North America is bracing itself for an extremely cold week (forecasts call for temperatures in the 30s in sunny Florida, even), Matt De Lanoy (Pepa Quin)’s posted this darling scene of carolers out in the blistery cold. I do hope for their sakes the temperatures, if in the single-digits, are at least on the positive side of zero.
MakTober is long past but Calin (_Tiler) delivers a fresh helping of fantastic photography with this rendition of the familiar Falke in a glossy black paint scheme. With just the right number of details and a tastefully reserved color palette, this build almost seems more appropriate for a showroom floor than a futuristic battlefield.
