Continuing with our tracked theme for today, I present the hilariousness that is Karf Oolhu’s Crawler Trawler. As Fedde explains, “Impractical, but once I thought of the name, I had to build it.”
I am glad you did Fedde, because this sort of absurd cuteness is just the ticket to kick us into the weekend.
Although not nearly as cute as Wall-E, I did have to chuckle to myself when I saw what Simon had just posted. Despite the similarities, I think The Murdertrain by Exxtrooper would look more at home as a level boss in Contra than rolling around a desolate Earth in everyone’s favourite Pixar flick.
It’s not the first time we’ve blogged a WALL-E, and it probably won’t be our last either. After a slight diversion with BURN-E in Nov, the movie’s adorable main character is back this week as three different builders given us their take on this little fella:

We at The Brothers Brick were recently talking about whether there should be a statute of limitations on blogging a model. We obviously want to keep the majority of our posts fresh and new, but we all agreed that there are a lot of models in people’s back catalogues that deserve the spot light. Whether you have been around the community since LUGNET or are new this year, we think everyone will appreciate seeing these again or for the first time.
I will start us off with this classic by The Grandpappy, the Peregrine Multi-Role Starfighter. This has long been one of my favourite starfighters of all time. The combination of space superiority fighter and mecha will make any geek giddy. I also love the idea of treating the mecha frame as a weapons component as opposed to a permanent part of the design.

Remote Control cars are just plain fun, and Fred Ottens has built this cute little RC hotrod that I want to drive a round and make VRRRRRROOMMMM noises:
He’s done a great job shaping the car despite the RC wheelbase being too short compared to its width. Watch him zip around his house with this remote controlled ball of fury.
Seamlessly integrating System elements with Bionicle/Hero Factory elements is something I have been struggling to master for quite a while. This is apparently not such a struggle for Ian Barreto (~Ian) as evidenced by his Brute.
Ian says this was inspired by the Igor suit from Iron Man 3, which is apparent…but I prefer Ian’s.
Don Wilson (Genghis Don) treats us to the latest offering from the long-running Starfighter Telephone Game, the Mongol Squadron ‘Protector’. Making good use of the new A-frame parts to achieve a nice balance between overcomplicated and streamlined, this starfighter looks like it was made for swooshing.
I can’t see a Korean Geobukseon, or Turtle ship, without thinking of the many hours I’ve spent playing Age of Empires II. Alex Jones’ (Orion Pax) armored battleship is a superb model of this beautiful style of Asian shipbuilding which LEGO builders rarely cover.
My 6 year old self would have loved to play with this Trooper Zoid by Sioka Sculpting…oh, who am I kidding, my 32 year old self would love to play with it!
I think the best descriptor of such a creation is simple: FUN!
Pierre E Fieschi has been producing some rather fantastic small sci-fi trucks the last few days. As per Pierre’s usual M.O. despite these models’ tiny stature they are brimming with superb details and clever parts usage.
At the risk of pigeonholing myself as the guy who only blogs mecha, check out the latest build from the reclusive but always delightful Jas Nagra (J5N)
Few people build chunky shapes as elegantly as Jas, with a fluidity of style that gives a vaguely alien vibe to many of his mecha. Of particular note in this build are the deceptively boxy-yet-complex radar packages on the left shoulder and the Zarki-influenced cannon on the right.
Looking more like a movie still than a traditional brick sculpture, I had to look twice at this beautiful image by David Hensel (Legonardo Davidy) to be sure that it was, in fact, completely LEGO. Making wonderful use of his fantastic building skills and some great forced perspective techniques, this is one of David’s best models so far.
