Last week, we brought you reviews for the new LEGO BrickHeadz LEGO Batman Movie characters and Marvel characters. This week, we’re taking a look at the next two in the series: 41595 Belle and 41596 Beast. Like all the BrickHeadz, they retail for $9.99 USD, and they’re available now for LEGO VIP-card holders both in LEGO stores and from the LEGO Shop Online.
LEGO’s new line of BrickHeadz characters are available now for LEGO VIP Program members on the LEGO Shop online. These sets will be available to the general public beginning Wednesday, March 1. LEGO’s VIP Program is free to join, and you can sign up online, so you can still order your BrickHeadz today even if you’re not already a VIP member. Also revealed today are two new characters from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Included in the instruction books and on the boxes for 41595 Belle and 41596 Beast are images for none other than Captain Jack Sparrow (41593) and a new character: Captain Armando Salazar (41594).

This elegant Candlestick phone looks well-suited to one of those very fancy, expensive offices, decorated in dark mahogany. Brick Classics has created this beautiful stylized phone, making great use of the ornate pearl gold wagon wheel as part of the receiver on the phone. The scale is deceiving, too – it’s fairly small, sitting on a small base.
Pikachu better watch the road, since the outcome of Pokémon vs car generally doesn’t end well, as illustrated by Cecilie Fritzvold. The whole scene is well done. I like the (unfortunately very flat) Pikachu next to the line in the road. The tire gets great texture from the modified 2×3 pentagonal tiles. Let this stand as a PSA: pay attention when playing or walking in traffic!
Isn’t it adorable? Australian builder aldo k has done a phenomenal job sculpting this fuzzy grey nuisance. While the real thing might break your fence or punch you in the face, this adorable rendition makes great use of parts to create the perfect curves for a kangaroo. I particularly love the face: it has so much character! The ears bring it to life.
I vividly remember having to vacuum with one of these things. I hated it. And as much as I despised this particular weekly chore, Andreas Lenander has done a brilliant job bringing this monstrosity to life.
The main portion of the vacuum is smooth, well done, and has a short cord to fully irritate you when you try and go from room to room. I particularly like the wall-plug detail, and the ribbed hose works perfect!
One of my favorite parts about January is new LEGO sets coming into stores. I love seeing all the awesome new pieces and new sets. Picking one out is often the hardest part! To help with that, we’re bringing you reviews of some of the new 2017 sets so you can make decisions for your own collection, and last week we looked at 31065 Park Street Townhouse. Today we’re turning our gaze to 70261 The Vermillion Attack, which has 83 pieces and retails for $9.99 USD.
I’ve never been in a workshop as clean as this one by ForlornEmpire. I expect to see some oil, spilled coffee, or some sort of mess surrounding that giant engine — can’t say I’d lay below it, either. The scene has a ton of great detail, from the simple and effective fluorescent lights to the tool drawers, which I absolutely love. They look just like they should, at a good scale, and it’s a fantastic use of a bucket handle!
While I’m not sure I’d ever pick a golden scorpion as the steed for my guardian angel, I can appreciate the beauty of this character crafted by Sean and Steph Mayo. Sean shares that this lovely creature comes from a online, forum-based LEGO role-playing game over at Eurobricks. The Golden Empress scorpion is a player’s Guardian Angel.
This lovely little chapel comes to us from Lego_fan. Don’t let the small size fool you; there is a lot to love about the build. Many chapels we feature tend to skew more toward the cathedral end of things, so it’s refreshing to see a smaller build that’s so effective.
The main stained glass window stands out for me, with the great texture and use of the Technic pulley piece. The building’s sides avoid the “big grey wall” syndrome easily with tiles, profile bricks, and nice shaping.
The back is equally pretty, continuing the patterns that make this a striking little building. I like the way the lines draw the eye up and really make this little chapel look bigger than it really is.
Sometimes simple is highly effective, like this lovely little build by David Zambito. This little scene by the ocean has a lot going for it, technique-wise (The curves of the half-built/half-destroyed ship are quite lovely!). I like the rock work and the sand dune; the uni-kitty horns and 1×1 round tiles as shells gives it a nice touch. I rarely see beaches completely clear of debris!
It’s a lovely setting for whatever nefarious conversation is happening in the bones of an empty ship!
