LEGO Fortnite 77072 Peely Bone – A split decision? [Review]

Every once in a while, a LEGO set is revealed and you just know it’s going to be an absolute banger. I’m not a Fortnite fan, but when I first spied LEGO Fortnite 77072 Peely Bone, I was in love! So admitting that initial bias, does the set actually hold up to my scrutiny, or will those good vibes slip away from me much like a banana peel? Available now for pre-order, and shipping on October 1st, LEGO Fortnite 77072 Peely Bone retails for US $99.99 | CAN $129.99 | UK £89.99 on the LEGO website. You may also be able to find it through third party vendors on Amazon or eBay.

The LEGO Group sent The Brothers Brick an early copy of this set for review. Providing TBB with products for review guarantees neither coverage nor positive reviews.

The great Bionicle creature feature

Admittedly, I’ve never seen a Yigg before now, and can’t confirm that they exist outside of the LEGO hobby. But I do know an excellent Bionicle creation when I see one, and I trust Jarek Książczyk (jerac) when it comes to questions of cryptozoology. With an array of bright colors and a trisected mandible, the Yigg looks to be a mighty beast of the land… or sea… or maybe skies?

Pokédex entry #104: Cubone – the lonely Pokémon

In the world of Pokémon, there are few stories as sad as that of Cubone. And LEGO builder Redverse has poured all that lonely energy into a beautiful build of this pocket monster. Sporting a helm of bone, and a club of the same, Cubone is ready to unleash its infamous Bone Club attack. The Magnemite of Route 10 had better watch out!

FrogNation lands at BrickCon 2024

I write this from my hotel room, having just packed up all my LEGO builds at BrickCon 2024 this past weekend. Of the many highlights this year was the headlining presence of longtime attendee and TBB alum Simon Liu. As per usual, a contingent of plastic frogs tend to follow Simon wherever he travels. And this year, an army of his robotic hoppers arrived in this beautiful carrier on the convention floor. There were so many that a miniature version of this robo-amphibian jumped right into my crate as I was packing up my creations (as also happened to may other BrickCon attendees). Thank you very much, Simon!

Have you had a fruitful LEGO summer?

If there’s one thing you should know about me in this wonderful LEGO hobby, it’s that I love a good brick-built anthropomorph! So this trio of summertime fruits getting their chill on by Palixa And The Bricks really speaks to my core. First up is an adorable watermelon slice relaxing in a lawn chair. There’s nothing like a refreshing beverage to cut through that summer heat, and there’s no doubt this little dude needs to hydrate. While simple, the Converse-style shoes here are everything! But if you desire something more technical, the design of that LEGO folding chair is absolutely wicked.

LEGO announces a pair of holiday botanicals coming to the Icons line, now available for pre-order [News]

The holidays seem to come earlier every year. And with LEGO announcing new Christmas sets before the end of August, it’s certainly feeling that way once again. First up we have LEGO Icons 10370 Poinsettia, with 608 pieces and tons of sharp angles. And there’s also LEGO Icons 10340 Wreath – a more “adult” take than the past offering of set LEGO 40426. The verdant yuletide toroid is made up of 1,194 pieces, and features interchangeable accents in red, white, or blue. Both sets are available for preorder starting today, with global release on October 1. The LEGO Group announces double-digit growth for the first half of 2024 [News]

Continuing to outpace the rest of the toy industry, The LEGO Group announced earlier today during it’s earnings report for H1 2024 that it’s achieved a 13% growth in revenue compared to TLG’s H1 of 2023. On top of that, the company has also seen growth in customer sales of 14%, driven by the Europe and the Americas regions. With this additional cash coming in, spending on new offices and factories has also upticked slightly. Amid this growth, the LEGO Group’s continued push for sustainably sourcing plastic for their bricks remains a driving force at the company. Over the last 6 months, about 22% of material used in their toys came from renewable and recycled materials, improving upon the 12% used in H1 of 2023. Other items of note include TLG’s participation in the first International Day of Play and the 25th anniversary of LEGO Star Wars.

LEGO The Legend of Zelda 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 – Part 2: ‘Bout time for some ocarina! [Review]

Yesterday, Part 1 of our TBB review of LEGO The Legend of Zelda 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 covered the Breath of the Wild version of this arboreal guardian. But now we need to run through a couple measures of the notes A, D, and F to play the Song of Time on our ocarina and roll the review back to the beginning again. This time, we’ll be diving deep into the Great Deku Tree version from Ocarina of Time. LEGO The Legend of Zelda 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 comes in at 2,500 pieces with release on September 1st. LEGO The Legend of Zelda 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 – Part 1: Breath of the Wild edition [Review]

It feels like there’s always been some The Legend of Zelda set proposal bouncing around on LEGO Ideas, ever since the ancient times of the Sheikah before us. And while it’s not releasing within that theme, there’s certainly much excitement for the first LEGO entry into this Nintendo property. Offering two different builds, referencing either Breath of the Wild or Ocarina of Time, LEGO The Legend of Zelda 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 comes in at 2,500 pieces with release on September 1st. The set is already available for pre-order, retailing for US $299.99 | CAN $389.99 | UK £259.99 on the LEGO website. It may also be available from third-party sellers such as Amazon and eBay.

A magical LEGO creation full of Prestige

Some LEGO creations are downright magical, featuring the very best of scientific advancements to put on a marvelous show! And the same can be said of the inspiration for this miniland-scale build by Daniel Church. Based on the 2006 film The Prestige, Daniel employs LEGO-compatible lights to recreate this ultimate magic trick from the movie, transporting Hugh Jackman’s Robert Angier in front of the audience’s eyes using fictional tech provided by Nikola Tesla. And given the technique displayed in this brilliant recreation, I’m equally moved!

A deluxe hotel for the deluxe LEGO traveler

With tons of LEGO bricks in pastel colors and plenty of curved lines, Hotel Deluxe by Andrew Tate really packs a punch of brick built nostalgia. The business is alive with the hustle and bustle of so many minifigure travelers, carrying in their luggage, dining at the patio tables, snapping shots of the impressive façade, or even sunbathing on the roof. The round windows in light aqua have got to be my favorite touch here, forming what would be a quartet of rectangular windows into a circular portal through the use of some 6-wide arch pieces.
