The death of a fruit

Anything can be a LEGO creation, as proven by this little scene from byggi_l which depicts a fruit salad being created in what can only be described as a brutal manner. The anthropomorphized fruit look on in horror as the apple comes to an untimely end. The fruit themselves are simple little builds that employ modified Lowell Spheres to make their rotund, studded shapes, and the eyes and facial expressions are perfect. I can’t help but be reminded a little of those Veggie Tales videos I watched as a kid.

The fruits of your LEGO labor

Feeling hungry? Vincent Kiew has created this delicious looking arrangement of fruits. A durian stars as the centre piece, with its spikey texture recreated by using 1×1 wedges placed at different angles. A slice of the fruit is also featured, demonstrating its yellow fleshy insides, squashed between a white border. The durian is complimented by a vibrant orange with translucent pieces representing its inner segments. Standing tall and proud, the watermelon slice is constructed out of angled wedges creating its conical portrayal. The purple fruit is possibly a mangosteen, due to its bulbous white centre portrayed by dome corner pieces. All the fruits have wonderful rounded forms which conveys Kiew’s skills in creating realistic shapes.

Fruits

Let’s hope this LEGO durian smells better than a real life one, as the fruit is famous for its overwhelming odour. Still feeling peckish? Why not check out some of our other articles on tasty looking meals recreated in LEGO form.

Eat your fruits and vegetables!

A major problem with the diets of many folks these days is that they do not eat enough fresh fruits and vegetables, instead deriving too many of their calories from highly processed wheat, corn, and soy. There’s nothing wrong with wheat, corn, or soy, per se, but they don’t provide many of the vitamins and minerals necessary for human health. So consider this LEGO build by Barbara Hoel to be a public service announcement: eat your fruits and veggies! Your gut will thank you. Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Still Life with Fruit

This still life is awash with bright colors, with red apples, green, dark red, and purple grapes, orange oranges, yellow pears, and perhaps a dark red plum. Yummy! Organic curves are hard to do in LEGO, but Barbara has done a great job sculpting them. And then there is the tablecloth beneath them all, with every shade of blue imaginable featured. Someone must have invested in some LEGO DOTS sets! If only the background were black velvet, this would look great surrounded by a gilded frame and hanging on the wall of my dining room, reminding me to eat my fruits and vegetables.

Boisterous banana gone bonkers

For some reason this reminds me of Pickle Rick from Rick and Morty, but I’ve gotta hand it to Kevin H. for a great usage of one large LEGO part that stands out. The yellow kayak now transformed into a mad banana going postal for some unknown reasons. I’d like to think bananas tend to have their rotten days as well. Perhaps a slip of the mind, or maybe it’s just not very a-peeling to think about not being able to live to a ripe old age.
