Lower the deflector shields and fire photon torpedos!

NCC-2112 USS Jefferies may not be based on any particular ship in the official Star Trek canon, but it probably should be canon. I particularly like how Ben Smith designed the placement of the auxiliary engines swooping forward like a Klingon Bird of Prey instead of the traditional Star Trek ships we typically see. Points also scored for a primary hull that’s closely shaped like a saucer, as that’s as good as it’s going to get with the limitation of a LEGO build angles.

And if that isn’t cool enough, Ben’s made a secondary starship made for planetary exploration and landing.

Zebra Batman revealed as Diego Comic-Con 2019 LEGO DC Exclusive Minifigure [News]

LEGO just revealed the Zebra Batman minifigure as the DC Exclusive Minifigure that will be available at San Diego 2019 Comic Con. Zebra Batman was introduced in 1960 fighting against Zebra-Man as the villain. The minifigure can be obtained as part of a randomized draw on July 20th at the LEGO both in San Diego Comic-Con.

What this means is that LEGOLAND will be back in private hands after going public as part of Merlin in November 2013. Let’s take a journey through the history of LEGOLAND, reflecting back on the ups, downs, and changes of ownership that have led us to today.

This LEGO Freddie Mercury is the perfect epitome and embodiment of a legend

If they can build a Freddie Mercury like that, there’s little doubt AlexParkDesigns is a fan of Queen. Although the model is simple at first glance, there’s so much to admire about the parts usage to be impressed with. Let’s start with the inverted rubber tires which seamlessly join the torso armour from buildable figures. For a split second, I thought I was looking at a Technic tooth bar, but the lapels on the jacket are brick built with 1×2 slopes on a 1×6 plate. Who says you can’t live forever? Well, at least you can be immortalised in LEGO bricks with this perfect pose.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Freddy in LEGO form, as TBB’s own Iain Heath brought us an excellent larger-scale LEGO Freddy Mercury figure back in 2011.

Stunning designs of the vehicles from Jurassic Park that you can now build in LEGO [Instructions]

Fans sorely missed the various vehicles from the 75936 T.rex Rampage LEGO set that was revealed and reviewed by our team. But as always, there’s the great fan base of builders that will give us what we all need to complete our dioramas or dino chase scenes. Thanks to Miro Dudas, we now have both the Staff Jeep (Wrangler) and Park Tour Transport (Ford Explorer) complete with free instructions for you to build your own.

The earworm that stuck with me when I walked away from the screening of The Phantom Menace is the “Roger Roger” acknowledgment phrase by the battle droids. Spiderman Advanced Suit revealed as Diego Comic-con 2019 LEGO Marvel Exclusive [News]

LEGO just revealed the Spiderman Advanced Suit minifigure as the Marvel Exclusive Minifigure that will be available at San Diego 2019 Comic Con. The Advanced Suit was designed for the successful Playstation 4 Spiderman game released in 2018. There’s no information on how one can obtain these at the moment at the event.

Revisiting the LEGO Wild West Saloon set from Bricklink’s AFOL Designer Program [Review]

Over the last few months, we reviewed the Wild West Saloon and the popular Löwenstein Castle custom LEGO sets from Bricklink’s AFOL Designer Program (ADP). Since we received an early review copy, it arrived without the actual packaging and manuals. Bricklink has now generously sent us the actual packaging backers can expect to receive. With box-in-hand, we wanted to provide our readers with a quick revisit of the set, this time only focusing on the unboxing experience and instruction manual.

LEGO 75253 Boost Droid Commander now available for purchase in US and Canada [News]

The LEGO Boost 75253 Droid Commander details were revealed back in May and you can now order it online at LEGO Shop@Home on the US and Canada stores. It comes with 1,177 pieces and retails for US $199.99 and CAN $249.99. Other locations such as the UK does not have them listed as of yet.

The heart is the soul, and sometimes the path to death

Biocup 2019 has kicked off this year with a preliminary theme of all things scary. Biocup is a fan friendly organised event where builders challenge themselves to use Lego Technic, Bionicle, CCBS (Creature and Character Building Systems) and Constraction with having little or no traditional LEGO System bricks involved. This particular round is themed on creations built on things that scare or put fear into your heart or send chills down your spine. Builder [VB]’s creation of a heart nailed right through is something to be afraid of. As much as the heart is one of the strongest muscle in the body, it’s also the one that can be the weakest or darkest in soul.

Nothing compares to the simple pleasures of riding a bicycle

Builder Mel Finelli is back on the saddle with another amazing bicycle creation, and this time it’s of a 1960s Schwinn Stingray. The construct itself looks like it defies all logic and gravity even up to the handlebars floating. I can attest they do all fit together and hold well, having seen her earlier creation of the LaFrance Super-Streamline in person. What enables this magic to happen is LEGO flex-tubes threaded through the colored parts. What may look simple in the end is the result of whole lot of patience and planning. It was definitely worth it.
