Those of you visiting The Brothers Brick today will notice some big changes to the site. We’ve just rolled out a brand new design that we hope you’ll like a lot.
Key changes:

Iain Heath twerks his way to LEGO Internet infamy
We all know that Iain Heath of The Living Brick is the master of capturing the latest moments in pop-culture history in LEGO. But I would posit that he has gone too far!
Apparently, there was some sort of awards show for motion-picture musicals or something recently. Proving that the event I had never heard of before was indeed supposed to be family-centric, the daughter (age 20) of “Achy Breaky Heart” singer Billy Ray Cyrus danced while the son (age 36) of the dad from Growing Pains sang a popular song. I’m told by multiple people on the Internet that the problem was that these two children of beloved celebrity parents did not act like the pure-hearted children that they should be!
I have not brought myself to watch any video footage of the atrocity inflicted on the world (on par with the worst things happening elsewhere on the planet), but I’m told that I should find the whole thing distasteful. I’m shocked and saddened that an upstanding member of the LEGO building community would stoop so low. After all, these are children’s toys. Think of the children, Iain! The children!
Unofficial LEGO Monty Python sets that you’ll never see in stores
It’s no secret that I love Monty Python, so it’s really no surprise that someone like Rifiröfi would be able to successfully appeal to my vanity in order to share his own LEGO Monty Python creations. The thing is, Rifiröfi LEGO recreations of key scenes from Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Here’s The Rabbit of Caerbannog, with its “nasty, big, pointy teeth!”
Fortunately, the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch is at hand to assist King Arthur and his brave knights.
But one of my favorite scenes is when *SPOILER* Sir Bedevere establishes that Connie Booth’s character is a witch because she weighs the same as a duck.
Okay, fine, I can’t pick a favorite scene. Here’s the Black Knight.
Finally, no depiction of Monty Python and the Holy Grail would be complete without the French knights and Arthur’s assault on their castle.

Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for this tiny LEGO blaster
Flickrite Obedient Machine recently posted this adorable little version of Han Solo’s blaster (technically the DL-44 heavy blaster pistol), chock full of interesting parts use. The brown carrot as the handle is especially nice.
Epic steampunk Batcave adds Victorian flair to Batman’s secret lair
Jonas (Legopard) is rapidly becoming one of my favorite builders, not least because he demonstrates talent in multiple themes. His latest build is this excellent conversion of the Batcave into the quintessential look of the steampunk aesthetic — complete with Batman in a top hat and what appears to be a wood and brass Tumbler.
And since we’re featuring one of Jonas’ mashups, here’s another. Behold the Classic Space DeLorean:

Seek! Locate! Exterminate!
Yesterday, the BBC announced who’ll be playing the Twelfth Doctor. While I’ve appreciated both David Tennant and Matt Smith, I’m looking forward to seeing what Steven Moffatt and team will do with an older Doctor. And as amusing as the olive-drab Daleks were in the service of Churchill during World War II, I didn’t really like the primary-color Daleks introduced in the same “Victory of the Daleks” storyline. Perhaps we’ll also see a return to some of the classic villain designs from earlier series.
Speaking of older Doctors and more-classic Daleks, though, Steve (LegoAvon) has built a trio of menacing Daleks in the classic dark gray of the 1970’s.
“I’ve really let the place go since you killed me, by the way. Thanks for that.”
We could fill pages and pages here on The Brothers brick with excellent LEGO models inspired by the Portal universe. In fact, we have. Joining the ranks of wonderful LEGO Portal builders is Gabe Umland, whose dilapidated Portal 2 test chamber includes some excellent technological decay — something hard to do well in LEGO.
Speaking of GLaDOS, I quite enjoyed seeing Pacific Rim last week, and I’m surprised we haven’t seen more LEGO creations inspired by giant robots fighting giant sea monsters from another dimension…
Antares orbital patrol ship by Simone
I love believable sci-fi spaceships. With its comm arrays and seemingly modular sections connected by an open framework, this small ship by Simone (Wiseman_Lego) has all the hallmarks of something that could be patrolling the Oort Cloud perimeter in 2153.
Also note the classic “greeble sandwich” approach that balances smooth hull shapes with technical details poking out from in between.
LEGO BTTF & Lone Ranger train kitbash is inevitable but awesome
We generally don’t highlight LEGO models that primarily include only official sets, but this one is too cool — and frankly, rather creative — to pass up. Stuart Miles over at Pocket-lint has combined the new LEGO Back to the Future DeLorean set with the LEGO Lone Ranger Constitution Train Chase

A dark river rushing
Although it’s a little low on color, that’s exactly what works in this diorama by K.Kreations. Both the roofs on the crumbling huts and the complex rock-work of the ravine are masterfully executed.
K. apparently built this for the Legends of Brickdom Global Adventure Challenge.
Curiouser and curiouser... Moko builds Alice and the White Rabbit
Moko claims never to have read Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (as it so happens, I’m reading it right now), but that doesn’t stop him from building a wonderfully evocative version of Alice and the White Rabbit based on nothing more than a few image searches on the web.
Moko says that Alice’s hair was especially hard and that he had to rebuild it a couple times. The extra effort has certainly resulted in some naturally flowing hair.
