Fie, foh, and fum, / I smell the blood of a British man.

Justin Vaughn captures the opening lines of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series with a pair of minifigs.

“The Man in Black fled across the desert, and the Gunslinger followed…”

(The post title is a pair of lines from Shakespeare’s King Lear, which inspired the closing line and title of Robert Browning’s poem “Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came,” which in turn inspired Stephen King. Ah, allusion!)

Izzo’s Future Cyborg Athlete is a speedy, sporty skater

Izzo takes a break from mecha inspired by doodlings and Izmojuki, returning to his roots while looking ahead to the sports of the future:

Metabaron is no arachnophobe

Let’s just say that I’m not a huge fan of spiders. *shudder* But that doesn’t stop me from appreciating this great big arachnid by Metabaron:

Thanks for the tip, Paul Lee!

488 Galaxy Scout by Aaron Becker

It’s always a pleasure when we get to introduce the first creation from a builder coming out of his or her “dark ages” — that time in one’s life after childhood when your LEGO bricks are packed away in the basement or your mom has sold your entire collection for $10 at a yard sale.

Today, that builder is Aaron Becker (Flickr), and the creation is “488 Galaxy Scout,” an adorable little flyer in the best Classic Space tradition:

More angles on flickr. I can’t wait to see what Aaron will build next.

Don’t fear The Reaper

With smooth sides, big wheels, and an exposed engine, Biczzz‘s rat rod is sure to make every LUGNut jealous:

Harrison’s Little Shop of Horrors

I’ll admit to never having seen Little Shop of Horrors, but that didn’t mean I didn’t instantly recognize Harrison‘s rendition of this cult classic:

More on Flickr.

Harrison made it hard to pick just one creation to feature today. Don’t miss:

Ley Ward’s vig ain’t big enough for two

In Ley Ward‘s world, Clancy ain’t no lilly-livered pacifist. He wears a black hat and ain’t afeared of nobody.

Hiccup in LEGO Ambassadors selection process [News]

Those of you who submitted your nominees to LEGO for the upcoming cycle of the LEGO Ambassadors program may have received the following e-mail in the last 24 hours:

Dear e-mailer, we have a current active Ambassador cycle 08/09 so you sent a mail outside the nominations time frame.

Please be aware that we are not accepting any nominations now and that nobody is reading the sent e-mail.

Do not panic! LEGO was moving our e-mail messages between folders and accidentally triggered this auto-response. If you submitted your nominations on time, rest assured they were received and you don’t need to worry.

Incidentally, LEGO received more than 100 nominations from 52 communities in 22 countries, so the selection process has been a pretty big task. However, the new LEGO Ambassadors should be announced this week.

Adrian Florea slugs some muddy boots

Adrian Florea is at it again — building mecha and blowin’ minds.

Behold the Muddy Boot Slugger Mech:

The mech itself is great, to be sure, but the road under it is worth noting. That arrow is rather ingenious.

Elven Gondola by Dan Sibley

Inspired by the possibility of elves in upcoming LEGO Castle sets, Dan Sibley envisions an elf punting the tranquil waters of his native lands:
