Weekly Amazon LEGO Deals – Hobbit, Ninjago, Architecture & More

This week’s Amazon LEGO sales feature some really decent sets and remember, you can still get these in time for Christmas! It’s getting close so finish up your shopping while you can. Here is are couple of sets that I thought were interesting.

LEGO The Hobbit Dol Guldur Ambush 79011

This set is currently available for $15.99, down from $19.99. That seems like a good deal. This is the only set that has Beorn, plus you get two Orcs. Could be good for building up your Orc army and all that dark grey is great for building cliffs or other landscaping.

LEGO Ninjago 9450 Epic Dragon Battle

This one is an expensive set but is marked off quite a bit. It’s currently available for $87.87, down from $119.99. It comes with some good figures and over 900 pieces that are good for creature building among other things. I’m rather tempted by this one.

LEGO City Police High Speed Chase 60007

This is a fun, little set. Currently available for $22.39, down from $29.99, it has lots of vehicle parts, of course. It also has decent figures and a length of light grey track.

LEGO® Architecture Brandenburg Gate 21011

This one is on sale for $26.40, down from $34.99. These Architecture sets are over-priced, in my opinion, but if you are looking for this set or just want it for all the tan and sand-green, this price is much more reasonable.

LEGO Chima Target Practice 70101

This small set is rather fun and would make a good stocking stuffer-type of gift. It’s heavily discounted at $6.38, down from $14.99. It’s not worth the original price but is great at the discounted price. It includes a Chima figure, some weapons, a spring-loaded dart gun, a Speedor and a variety of parts. The Speedorz are actually rather fun and are made up of some interesting and useful parts. Definitely worth it if you can get them on sale.

’32 Deuce Coupe from American Graffiti

Calin just rolled out this awesome little yellow hot rod, as a a tribute to John Milner’s ’32 Deuce Coupe from the iconic film American Graffiti. The lines and styling are incredible. It’s an amazing that the builder was able to achieve this shape in such a small footprint. You have to admit that the the use of bananas for fenders is a great touch too!

It’s all child’s play

There are so many things I adore about this little scene. You’ve got the nostalgia factor, because I absoultely played hopscotch at recess as a little girl. Then you look at the detailing on the pavement, and your eye should wander to the absolutely brilliant bicycles for the kids.

That bunny is just adorable. Michael Jasper, well done.

Jason Corlett has just shared this beefy Overseer mech, featuring arms large and small for any industrial work you might need.

While I’m partial to the headless variant shown above, Jason has whipped up a number of different designs to show what the mech looks like with a wide variety of heads.

Drafting Table – a Study in Creativity

Sinan Bitişik has lovingly crafted this beautiful drafting table. I’m not sure why but I have a thing for drafting tables. There is something about the utility and minimalistic nature of them, while at the same time, knowing the potential and creativity that may be let loose on their smooth working surface. Regardless, this model is perfect. I would love to have one.

Don’t Cry Over Spilt Milk

Kosmas Santosa just built this most incredible milk carton. I have to say that it is probably the best milk carton LEGO model I’ve ever seen. It’s just so smooth. The brick-built label is spot on, not to mention that the folds and angles of the top are perfect. Nicely done.

Merry Chrashmas from Santa’s B-Team!

Joel Baker is the agent for this team of misfits and directly responsible for their behavior. I don’t know about you but I don’t want these guys pawing around my roof on Christmas Eve, blacklight nose or not!

I love how Joel got so much expression into each of these deer. They may only be the ‘B’ team but they have a lot of personality!

Chibi Aliens MicroFighters Contest entries

One of my favorite movies of all time is Aliens. It has everything a little boy would want: cool SHIP, fun dropships with APC, lots of action, and of course let’s not forget adorable aliens! So with the TBB’s Chibi MicroFighter contest, I was absolutely delighted to see not one, not two, but the three iconic builds from my favorite movie.

Lego zoetrope depicts fighting ninjas

I’m a fan of seeing new concepts in Lego creations such as a working zoetrope by Ian Spacek. The viewer rotates the cylinder and peers through the slots to see the sequence of animated images.

A Little Home to Call Your Own

Here’s a lovely little structure by delayice. Besides the neat architectural details, what really strikes me about this creation is the way the building looks as if it were organically constructed over centuries of use, as each new owner added on a new bit of the structure.
