The LEGO VIP program’s reward center continues to be a roller coaster of ups and downs. We still had a few points left on our account, so we picked up the latest bit of non-brick swag up for offer – the VIP 5007331 Retro Tin Lunchbox. This blast from the past is available now, one-per-account, for 2500 points (US | CAN | UK). Is it worth the equivalent of a $20 US discount? Read on and see what we thought!
In June we shared a review of four VIP Tin Sign Rewards – each featuring an image based on a popular LEGO theme. Spoiler alert: we were not very impressed. But now LEGO has followed up with a sixth entry into the tin sign collection – LEGO VIP 5007159 LEGO Logo Tin Sign. Available one-per-VIP-account in the Rewards Center (US | CAN | UK), this tin can be yours for 1,200 points. (It has a listed retail value of $15 US) Need more details? Well, we ordered one, and you can take a closer look after the jump!
We’ve seen some real ups and downs in the quality of “Collectible” VIP rewards from LEGO. Yet, for some reason, I keep spending my points on all of them. My latest acquisition is LEGO VIP 5007093 – 1950’s Logo Spinning Keychain. It’s available now for 950 points from the VIP rewards center (US | CAN | UK ). Keep reading for the details of this bit of bling!
Back in November, we shared a review of the 1950’s LEGO Logo tin sign VIP reward. Since then, LEGO has introduced four more designs to help fill out your wall space – 5007155 Ninjago, 5007156 – City, 5007157 – Friends and 5007158 – Rebuild the World. Each is available one-per-VIP-account in the Rewards Center (US | CAN | UK). In the US they’re 1,200 points each with a listed retail value of $15. We caved and ordered all four – come along as we take a look at just what we got for our 4,800 points. (Spoiler alert: Not much.)
Announced today, LEGO is bringing back one of the most popular collectables of 2021, VIP collectible coins. The coins will be available in VIP Rewards Centre tomorrow, January 11, at midnight (for Australia, Japan, and Korea), at 10 am GMT (for Europe), and at 9 am EST (for the US and Canada). Besides the coins, the coin holder is back, too.
Here’s the official message from LEGO:
LEGO® VIP collectible coins are back!
We’re making our LEGO® VIP collectible coins and coin holder available again on January 11, 2022 in our VIP Rewards Centre. Each coin (as well as the coin holder) is only available to VIP members who didn’t get any coins or weren’t able to complete their set last year. We expect supplies to run out quickly. If demand is lower than we expect, we may open the promotion up so VIP members can get a second coin. Keep an eye on the VIP Rewards Centre for the latest updates.
The coins on offer to VIP members will be:
1. Collectible LEGO® Coin
2. LEGO® “Space” Logo – Collectible Coin
3. LEGO® “Octan” Logo – Collectible Coin
4. LEGO® “Pirates” Logo – Collectible Coin
5. LEGO® “Castle” Logo – Collectible Coin
They’ll be available at the following times:
- In Australian and New Zealand: midnight Sydney time
- In Japan: midnight local time
- In Korea: midnight local time
- Europe: 11am CET/10am GMT
- United States and Canada: 9am EST
Last year we shared a review of the Castle VIP coin. The coin was available for 1150 VIP points, so make sure to check our opinion if you consider getting one tomorrow.
The mad rush of sales and events leading up to the holiday season is in full swing, and LEGO is leaning hard into “how many ways can we get collectors to shell out big bucks multiple times over a span of several days?” The first push, the VIP weekend, is drawing to a close, but there’s still a few hours (probably) for VIP members to pick up an interesting gift with purchase. LEGO 5007016 VIP 1950’s Retro Tin is available through November 25th from the LEGO Shop Online as a VIP Gift with qualifying purchases of US $250 | CAN $330 | UK £250. The details about the tin are pretty sparse at LEGO.com, but their US shipping was quick, and we now have one on hand to share with you. Come along and learn the details of this decorative object!
This morning, we had the chance to participate in a discussion with Jason Whiting, LEGO’s Global Director of the VIP Program, and were able to learn some interesting insights into the program and future plans for it as well as discussing some of the issues that fans have experienced. This comes as LEGO announces that the fifth and final VIP Collectible Coin will be available on May 20, as well as announcing that previous coins will be available again in the future. While LEGO has not yet confirmed when the rest of the coins will be back in stock or what the quantities on them will be, we did learn that LEGO intends to re-stock the previous coins (including the wildly popular Classic Space Coin) using the same listing, so VIP members who redeemed them already will not be able to redeem them again. This should give fans who missed any of them the first time a better chance at getting them this time around. LEGO did not rule out the possibility that if demand falls short on the second run, they may remove the 1-per-account limit. There is no word yet if LEGO also plans to re-stock the coin holder, which was a separate reward from the coins.
The LEGO Coin Collectible series is an ongoing VIP Reward and is released featuring a coin each month since January 2021. The 5th and final LEGO collectable coin will be available in the LEGO VIP Rewards centre (US | CAN | UK) on May 20, 2021.
