A brief video teaser featuring the Blizzard’s Overwatch game’s lead designer, Jeff Kaplan, assembling a LEGO Tracer minifigure has just been published via the developer’s official social media channels. This appears to be the first official look at the upcoming LEGO Overwatch sets since Activision-Blizzard’s announcement of the licensing back in May. Unfortunately, no official release date has been given yet, but we can’t wait to see all the new LEGO sets! Edit: The new Overwatch sets are available for pre-order, shipping January 1.

Strategy game Plants vs. Zombies became an international hit after its 2009 release, and it has been going strong ever since. A portion of the game’s success can be attributed to its colorful cast of characters, like Torchwood. Torchwood is a mean, green, shooting machine and this LEGO version built by chubbybots is a great character build. His model offers a nice balance of function and form, with articulated joints and expressive facial features.
The mouth opens and closes, which allows for some fun poses like this one. Together, the tilted eyes, open mouth, and outstretched weaponized arm all scream attitude.
He’s even ready to go head-to-head with the game’s namesake zombies.

Chun Li was the first female character to appear in a beat-em-up, bursting onto arcade and console screens in Street Fighter II in 1991. John Cheng has built a cool chibi-styled LEGO version of the character. The outfit and stance make the model immediately recognisable, with all the signature elements present and correct — the white boots, the split skirt, the gold embroidery on the bodice, and the buns in the hair. Put that attention to detail together with a supercute big-headed anime styling and you’ve got a cracking LEGO creation. Spinning helicopter kick for the win — KO!

Prominent video game-inspired LEGO builder Marius Herrmann from Germany is back with another remarkable brick bot, this time in collaboration with developer/publisher Konami. Say hello to Jehuty, a mechanical Orbital Frame suit piloted by the protagonists of the Zone of the Enders video game saga.
There is an amazing amount of articulation to be found across multiple joints and accessories. Newer parts like the bar w/ round plate hollow stud make an appearance in the wingtips and hands, and some larger, sleek “constraction” pieces in key positions on the arms and inner thighs provide a nice contrast to the more piece-intensive torso and limbs.

Kass, the Rito minstrel from Zelda: Breath of the Wild is captured perfectly in this neat LEGO bust by Markus Rollbühler. The model makes great use of dark turquoise amongst more regular LEGO colours to capture the character’s bright plumage, and it looks like there’s a complex structure underneath it all to deliver the shaping, with bricks and tiles facing in multiple directions. The printed eye tile is a perfect choice, rotated out of it’s usual “frown” position, to evoke Kass’ cheerful disposition. Surely the challenge now is for Markus to build the rest of the character, accordion and all. Come on Markus, don’t let us down!

Today LEGO has announced LEGO Cube, the first fruits of their partnership with developer Tencent Games, part of the massive Chinese tech conglomerate Tencent. The new video game is an open-world, sandbox game and is designed for mobile platforms. LEGO expects the game to be publicly available before the end of the year, though they’re not yet ready to announce specifics yet, such as whether it will work on both Android and iOS, and how much players can expect to pay, including whether or not it will feature micro-transactions.
The initial launch appears to be focused on the Chinese market, but LEGO is calling the Chinese release a “preview” indicating that there may be plans for a wider release down the road. The game joins several other new properties developed in partnership with Tencent, including The LEGO Video Zone, an online safe harbor for children’s digital entertainment and featured on Tencent Video.
It remains to be seen exactly how this game will differ from LEGO’s current open-world, sandbox game, LEGO Worlds, or whether Cube is simply a mobile port of that existing game. Watch the Chinese trailer here, and you can read the full press release below.

After playing the latest DLC for Hollow Knight, talented multi-theme builder Anthony Wilson can’t contain his delight . Such a cute, yet so deadly Shade is one of the many reasons to fall in love with the game. This ghost appears every single time the main character dies, and you’ll have to defeat it to regain the energy and the wealth you had collected before. You’ll face the Shade calmly levitating in mid-air right next to where you just died. Despite building a static figure, Anthony skillfully captures the ghost’s smoke-like body. And even the sword behind the Shade’s back looks exactly like the one in the game.

It’s that time of year again for SHIPtember — one month to build a spacecraft over one hundred LEGO studs in length (approximately 31.5 inches). I haven’t participated successfully since 2014, when I built UNSC Savannah from Halo: Reach. 2018’s build worked out much better, so I present my LEGO model of Exodus Black, a colony ship from Destiny 2.

Back in the 1980s and 1990s, Sierra was one of the biggest names in PC gaming, and high-quality adventure games were one of their specialties. One of their most beloved franchises was the Quest for Glory series, developed by Lori Ann and Corey Cole. Of the five games in the series, Letranger Absurde chose to recreate the opening scene of Quest for Glory I: So You Want to be a Hero. As the hero enters the picturesque town of Spielberg for the first time, he is greeted by Sheriff Schultz Meistersson and his massive right-hand-man, Otto Von Goon. Going by the colors used, Letranger appears to have based his representation on the VGA remake. He makes a great use of various angles to form the buildings in front of the town square, and forced perspective is cleverly used to suggest there is another area to explore. The characters are instantly recognizable, including a brick-built version of Otto pulling off a yo-yo trick like he often does in the game.

Diablo 2 is a game that is almost two decades old now, yet still holds a sizable following, including myself and, judging by some of his creations, Tammo S. Taking the game’s age into consideration, the photography angle of the creation makes much more sense, as it reflects the top-down view of the game. If you’re familiar with the game, you’ll love this creation for all its accurate details like the Paladin character in the middle sporting a Holy Fire aura and a Bone Shield. But even if this is the first time you’ve heard of this game, there is a lot to see.
Combinations of different tan colours to create an impression of stone bricks and all the textures and architectural elements really facilitate the Egyptian style of this part of the game. The creation was undoubtedly built for the top-down view characteristic for the Diablo videogame series, but this alternate angle still shows a some details that would otherwise remain hidden.

CD PROJEKT RED’s upcoming RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is one of my most anticipated video games. I carefully examined the screenshots revealed on the official site and found a good close-up of one of the handguns in the game. It was clear and showed all the details I needed to make a LEGO replica of it, so I created my build of the Militech 9mm Pistol to show my excitement for Cyberpunk 2077.
The LEGO Militech 9mm Pistol features a moving trigger, removable magazine, and sliding bolt. These functions are demonstrated in this video, which also compares the LEGO pistol to the reference screenshots I used to build it.
