It would appear that both Ralph Savelsberg and I have been busy building aeroplanes this weekend. I assure our loyal readers that this was a total coincidence and not a cunning ploy on my behalf to cut down on the number of blog posts.
Ralph has added to his military collection with a BAE Sea Harrier for a presentation with Ed Diment at the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry.
I’ve kept myself civilian (or at least sort of) with a De Havilland Otter.
Chris McVeigh (Powerpig) designed this townhouse entirely in LEGO Digital Designer, based on the buildings in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The top of the square part is excellent. Like LEGO sets of the 70’s and 80’s, the back is open and has a fully detailed interior (photos forthcoming, Chris promises).

This wonderful vignette entitled “Ranidaphobia” by Matt S. (Plastic Matt) expanded my vocabulary AND entertained.
I’m in the mood for vignettes apparently.
Could be just a big blog-crush, but everything posted by Rod Gillies (2 Much Caffeine) seems to be worth showcasing to the world. Simple and really creative.
This latest vignette is apparently the result of “messing about” when Rod didn’t have much time to build. Rubbing in his skills.

Sean Kenney‘s recent creation is a 5.5 feet microscale rendition of the John Hancock Center in Chicago, featuring nearly 13,000 pieces. The model has also been glued, which must have contributed to a good portion of the 80 hours Sean spent working on the entire project. Check out the gallery for detail shots including the bustling scene at the plaza.

Allister McLaren (Captain_underpants) takes us to the moon and back with this superb collection of rocketships. I love rocketships.
He’s also just added a bunch of BLBDC pics from our local LUG’s collaborative build session. Call me biased but I reckon our minimally planned town square looks pretty excellent.
Modern fire engines in real life frequently have flat front windscreens. However, this is not a LEGO piece that has existed in six-wide from until the recent release of 7641 City Corner. Steven Asbury (s-asbury) immediately takes advantage of this new piece to create a Mack Collapse Rescue Unit.
Steven’s immediately previous LEGO fire vehicle is this big yellow airport rescue rig.
Mashikuf of Toys in the Attic built this lovely flower shop for last year’s Brick Fan Town event in Japan.
Note the varied colors in the brown section on the top floor and the crenellated row above the awnings. Gorgeous.
What’s amazing is that this excellent building is just one of dozens built for the collaborate display back in September 2008.

I returned from from a 2-week vacation to Italy (including Venice) a few months ago and I’m feeling ready for another one. So this creation by crises_crs triggered my wanderlust.
If you look closely at this and other pictures you see that it holds water, so the gondola can float along through the little canal between buildings.
My brother apparently ran across it on Klocki and threatened to blog it if I didn’t, so I’ve taken the sibling rivalry by the horns.
I just don’t know where to start or stop when sifting through d-higdon’s hundreds of photographs of her elegant and skilled LEGO mansions, department stores, country estates and office buildings. But I guess this beautifully lit living room will have to do.
I’ve never wanted a big house, but if it were made out of LEGO and furnished by her, I’d buy one in a second. If I had the money.
