Classic Creations: Henry Lim’s Stegosaurus
I’ve been looking at some of the older creations that inspired me when I first discovered the online Lego community and I realized that many people may not have seen these. We never featured them here on The Brothers Brick for the simple reason that the blog didn’t exist then. So, from time to time, I am going to highlight some the classic creations of years gone by.
First up is a Stegosaurus by Henry Lim. Selected to be a Lugnet Cool Site of the Week in November of 2000, this Stegosaurus still has the ability to amaze.
Trucking in the Blue Sun
It’s not often that we see Chinese characters sculpted into lego. Here, Brickshelf user gtahelper accurately depicts “Blue Sun” (a recurrent corporate entity in the Firefly and Serenity ‘verse) in both Chinese and a logo in English. The truck model features working suspension, steering, and a few other neat details worth checking out.

The Contortion
This is my first surrealist piece of the year and it marks the contortion of my mind for the past year and going. The sculpture itself is extremely fragile, but sturdy enough to survive a 5.2 earthquake. The bulk of the work is composed of four interweaving strands built from corner plates and supported at several critical points.
Arvo’s Doll – worth the tease
The Arvo Brothers‘ latest project is inspired by Ghost In the Shell 2 and the disturbing works of Hans Bellmer. There are only two teaser pictures so far, but they’re worth it. I look forward to the gallery and must say that Arvo’s recent takes on fictional subjects have yielded really, really stunning results.

LEGO Halo Grunt sculpture springs to life
Of the many Halo LEGO builders, only a few stand out as true masters of the theme. Tyler (Legohaulic) doesn’t need to prove that he’s one of them, but his recent grunt model further reinstates his talent in building in the theme.
Maintaining Normality
Lego sculpturer and owner of MOCpages Sean Kenney has a tendency for artistic expression. His latest work is called Maintaining Normality.
If you have read his explanation but still do not understand the symbolism, according to the artist, “the pole represents the objects that we insert into our environments … be they cars, buildings, big macs, whatever … and the person represents the demeanors, chi, and social constructs we insert into our environments. In my sculpture, they’re both white because they both represent the ‘potentially dangerous input’ into our world.”

Bedford royal mail van
Steven‘s latest model is as realistic as ever. The following words from the builder sums up the model nicely:
“This is the Bedford Royal mail van. It completes my series of Lego Bedfords. They are based on oxford die-cast models and this one has the standard features of the others, suspension and functional steering. The back doors open and close with interior and exterior hinge details. The front grille has been changed to give some variation in the builds. I would like to give thanks to Taff @ Oxford Die-cast models for providing me with the template for the decals.”
Dome of the Rock
Arthur Gugick is a master of recreating famous landmarks in LEGO. Check out his latest colorful work, the Dome of the Rock. Be sure to take a look at his gallery, how many places have you been? I counted eight.
