LEGO Ninjago 71812 Kai’s Ninja Climber Mech [REVIEW]

Mech design for the Ninjago theme has evolved over the years, with building techniques, color choices, and details showing the influence of anime, and other pop culture mediums. Naturally, the size of the mech also has an impact on the design choices, supporting the weight, while allowing for dynamic posability can limit the design. But one mech from the March Ninjago wave is a great example of achieving this balance. This tall and lanky 4-armed mech makes great use of fewer parts. Now, I know what you’re thinking. You love the new LEGO Creator 3-in-1 31150 Wild Safari Animals released back in January, and as well you should because it’s a great set. But you were hoping for something with a color scheme that’s more LEGO Icons 10325 Alpine Lodge. Well, does next month have the set release for you! LEGO Ninjago 71819: Dragon Stone Shrine [REVIEW]

Spring is almost here, and so it’s time for another wave of Ninjago sets! This wave includes mechs, a buggy, dragons, and of course, a dojo, but the first set in the wave is a little different. Halfway between a play set and a display set, the Dragon Stone Shrine may be compact, but it is packed with details, and has one of the best tree designs from the theme, in my opinion. LEGO Ninjago 71819 Dragon Stone Shrine comes with 1,212 pieces, includes 6 minifigures, and will be available on March 1st for US $119.99 | CAN $149.99 | UK

LEGO Icons 10327 Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter [REVIEW]

Science fiction is one of the best inspirations for custom LEGO creations, from franchises like Star Wars, Alien, Starship Troopers, Bladerunner, and many more. And there have been plenty of official sets inspired by the genre as well. But outside of Star Wars and LEGO space-related themes, there have not been very many official sets (LEGO Ideas 21340: Tales of the Space Age being a rare exception). But this changed at the start of this month. With the premiere of Dune part 2 in theaters on March 1st, one of the most iconic vehicles from the movie is finally brought to fantastic LEGO life with the release of LEGO Icons 10327 Atreides Royal Ornithopter. Bricklink Designer Program Series 1 – Snack Shack: Divey, delicious, or both? [Review]

It’s not every day that we here at TBB review something that’s not found on the LEGO store shelves. But with the Bricklink Designer Program about to launch pre-orders for Series 1 in a few days, we were offered the opportunity by Bricklink to review one of the sets in advance: the Snack Shack designed by Stefan Cornelissen (Distracted Bldr). In addition to the advance copy of the set, we were also able to sit down with Stefan over video chat to talk about his inspiration, specific design choices, and intended implementation of his model. But what did we think of the limited edition set? How does this product differ from something in the LEGO Ideas line? And what did Stefan have to share with us? You’ll have to read on to find out! LEGO Icons 10331 Kingfisher – An iconic bird in brick [Review]

The LEGO Botanical Collection has been a huge success, with loads of adult fans scooping those sets off shelves to decorate their homes and offices in a fun and cheerful way. The LEGO Ideas Insect Collection was also a hit, giving a bit of variety to these similar types of adult-oriented sets. It only made sense that the company would try to branch out into some of the more elegant representatives from the animal kingdom. Speaking of “kingdom” they picked an excellent candidate with the LEGO Icons 10331 Kingfisher.
