Here’s one black cat you’d be lucky to cross paths with

I don’t know about you, but the famous Le Chat Noir poster has to be in my top ten cat-themed Art Nouveau advertisements for nineteenth-century French cabaret establishments. Anthony Forsberg’s LEGO rendition captures this iconic piece of art with an attention to detail that would make the original artist (Théophile Steinlen) proud. Two aspects stand out to me: first, the plates and tiles at a variety of angles and configurations to get the lettering just right; and second, the vertical and horizontal plates in dark tan to achieve the outline of the cat. All the techniques come together for (I’m deeply sorry for the pun in advance) a near-purrfect recreation of a classic artwork.

LEGO commemorates Ninjago/DreamZzz crossover episode with “Enter the Dreamers” poster [News]

With multiple animated LEGO series in the world right now, a crossover episode becomes almost an inevitability. And over a week ago, as fate would have it, the world of LEGO DreamZzz was visited by the cast of Ninjago. To mark this momentous occasion, LEGO has debuted a special poster depicting the entire “Dream Team.” Be sure to give the episode a watch to see how the ninjas and Dream Chasers fare against the Nightmare King and his Grimspawn. And if you’re new to the LEGO DreamZzz theme, you can read up on all the sets and lore in the TBB archives.

The world’s tiniest X-files poster in LEGO

Some fans build massive recreations of props from their favorite movies and TV shows. LEGO builder Corvus Auriac has gone the opposite direction with this tiny five-stud-wide microscale model of the UFO poster that hangs over Fox Mulder’s desk in the X-files. The trees made of epaulets provide interesting texture, while the flying saucer works spectacularly considering it’s made of only two pieces—a pair of 2×2 radar dishes attached on a clear rod. Is this the smallest brick-built LEGO poster ever? I’m not sure, but I know the truth is out there.

We all want $1000

One could argue that this LEGO creation by balticlegomoc is of a guy who wants $1000 presumably for a festive makeover. But that’s not how wanted posters work there, pardner! Wanted posters alert the public that a bounty is out on some steely-eyed outlaw or another for the crimes of extreme vagrancy or something. From a graphic design standpoint, there are two different brick-built fonts here neatly centered, which can be hard to pull off in LEGO.The use of grayscale give this an old-timey feel. I like that this particular steely-eyed outlaw is a brick-built bust with a literal handlebar mustache.

This travel poster will get a rise out of you

Frequent visitors to The Brothers Brick will recognize the name Eero Okkonen. We’ve featured a great number of his amazing sculptural works over the years, most featuring large figure builds. His departures from that theme are just as impressive, though. For Those About To Rise Up, an entry into the Travel Poster challenge for Space Jam 2020, is a marvel of gradient color and design. And, yeah, with a pretty impressive face in the foreground, too. I really like the green hair and coral eyeshadow, but my favorite detail has to be the tiny spaceship that is rocketing to the stars.

For Those About To Rise Up

Thanks to Corona, it feels like I’ve been stuck at home for a thousand years. This poster makes me hopeful there will still be vacation opportunities in the distant future, too.
