2020 LEGO Advent Calendars, Day 10

Happy holidays to all of our fellow LEGO builders! As is tradition, we at The Brothers Brick will be opening our advent calendars as we count down to Christmas. We’ll also be sharing commentary on each one, which will be both insightful and hilarious!

LEGO Advent Calendar

This year we have new Harry Potter, Star Wars, City and Friends advent calendars to open. We will be sharing images of the new calendars every day through Christmas, and hope that you’ll join us! Let’s see what there is to open on Day 10.

A proper vehicle for the true heroes of the city

Every superhero needs a top-notch ride. While Batman has to choose among all of his Batmobiles, other heroes, like firefighters, have a lot to show, too. Steven Asbury, an expert in the sphere of city fire safety, is constantly upgrading the city department’s engines. Here’s the new Arrow XT platform with a ton of things to spy: a dozen of compartments, flashing lights, switches, and some skillfully designed custom stickers.

Truck2

And on a quiet day, this truck is still a finest jewel of the modern LEGO city.

The coolest space fire truck you’ll ever see

Everyone loves a good LEGO fire truck, there’s just something about them; classic, timeless and a throwback to our childhood days. Builder Frost puts a new spin on the traditional rendition with his futuristic space fire truck fully staffed by robotic firefighters.  I could easily see it serving a futuristic city right here on earth too, since it may not see much use in a low oxygen environment. Then again, it is the future we’re talking about here…

The build is packed with play features, including a detachable fire drone on the back, forward water blasters hidden under the grille, and of course an elevating water cannon. My favorite feature has to be the compartments on the sides of the truck where the robots sit, ready for action.

Friday Night Fights – Fire trucks

Welcome back fight fans, to Sin City Nevada for another round of Friday Night Fights. Since large parts of this blog’s ancestral homeland (Washington State) seem to be going up in smoke this week, we thought it appropriate to turn our attention to mini-fig scale fire trucks.

In the shiny red corner, we have Isaac Mazer and his super-accurate Rescue 134, inspired by an engine from an actual ladder company of the same name, in his native Toronto:

In the even shinier redder corner, Galaktek takes a step away from the real world and goes future-retro with the FutureCity Fire Engine from the planet Incendia XII (which sounds like it probably needs a lot of fire trucks).

As usual, constant reader, you are tasked with deciding, by way of comment, which truck is destined for glory and which is destined to rust in the fire house. On the last edition of Friday Night Fights, Concept Art Ships, Jake nailed it to the wall in an 11-4 showdown against Alexander. Tune in next week for another action packed edition of Friday Night Fights!
