Happy holidays to all of our fellow LEGO builders! As is tradition, we at The Brothers Brick will be opening our advent calendars as we count down to Christmas. We’ll also be sharing commentary on each one, which will be both insightful and hilarious!
This year we have new Harry Potter, Star Wars, City and Friends advent calendars to open. We will be sharing images of the new calendars every day through Christmas, and hope that you’ll join us! Let’s see what there is to open on Day 10.
Imagine the following sentence in song form: On the 10th day of Christmas the LEGO Group gave to me, a droid and Ron Weasley!
CJ: More minifigures! The higher price-point for the Potter and Star Wars sets at least feels like it’s paying dividends in terms of contents. The Santa hat is a nice touch, and scores Star Wars another holiday bonus point.
Benjamin: Ah, two pity-inspiring side characters that never get developed properly…but decent LEGO renditions, though Ron’s ruffles look far too nice in this form.
Lino: Incidentally Ron wouldn’t be the first kid to build a prom date out of stuff lying around the house.
Bart: Ron is in charge of putting up the Christmas decorations. Who would have guessed Ron was a Star Wars geek?! (I did)
Daniel: Why bother to master Wingardium Leviosa when you have a robot to bring you your butterbeer.
Time to break out your sweet tooth! Today’s Friends build revealed a table of baked goodies, while City shared a new minifigure with us.
Benjamin: Cops and donuts, more popular together than peanut butter and jelly.
Daniel: Do these have nuts? I swell up worse than a botched hex if I eat nuts.
Lino: Freya knows that her badge comes with certain perks, particularly at all the donut shops.
Adam: Guys, she’s a firefighter. Also, I want all of those cookies in my LEGO belly.
CJ: Freya McCloud makes a fun addition to the City scene, although I wish they had included her Flaming Marshmallow mug (https://brickset.com/parts/design-56867) as an accessory instead of the badge tile. The Friends sweet stand isn’t super sweet, but it has some nice printed and transparent elements.
Not everyone seems to enjoy these holiday treats, it seems (looking at you, Ron).
Benjamin: I’m going to need to see your vendor permit, as this does not look up to health code.
Day 10’s builds were magically delicious. Who knows what Friday will bring? Check in with us tomorrow to see what Day 11 of the 2020 LEGO Advent Calendars will reveal!

There was a theory that the minifigs would have a Secret Santa Mix-Up, so it’s possible the Flaming Marshmallow Mug might show up later. Although it’s also possible that there’d just be a boring yellow round brick with yellow tap fire extinguisher, or similar…
