Then I don’t want to be right. I’d much rather be building mecha like this one by Rong Yiren. I just finished a mecha of my own, and it doesn’t appeal to me nearly as much as this does. The killer detail? The removable helmet!

We shall not relinquish the historic eggs!
If you’ve played Angry Birds as much as I have, you’ll love these renditions by Tsang Yiu Keung. The only thing missing is the Mighty Eagle, but I don’t want to pay an extra 99 cents anyways.
Spotted via Joe Meno’s facebook.
I want to go to Sesame Street
At least this cute little one by Matt Armstrong (monsterbrick). My favorites for sure are Oscar the Grouch and Elmo’s little clam head, but Cookie Monster comes in a close.
Why in the world am I not camped outside Matt’s house waiting for the next great creation?
I may or may not have mentioned that I’m a fan of How to Train Your Dragon
Or, to expand a bit, Dreamwork’s How To Train Your Dragon. Which is, of course, based on a book. Aren’t most things?
Anyway, The Boneknapper. Taylor Bagg‘s rendition looks frightening, detailed, and quite lovely.
And the winner is....
….Iain Heath’s “Tastes like Zebra”! The contest was grueling and the entries were hysterical. The judges were judgmental and the winner loathes minifigs. All in all, it was a great contest!
Congratulations to Iain and many thanks to all who entered. It really was a lot fun to watch and it was the easiest contest I’ve ran in many years. Mime On!
Squiddie 16+
Dave Shaddix lets the viewer control the action with Peace is Bad for Business. But we all know that squiddie controls the action.
It’s all in the scales
This image by Fred (Shamisenfred) reminds me of those collectible fantasy cards that were big in the 90s. Although Anutrich himself is very nice I have to confess that the scales he’s holding are what really drew my attention to it.
No one’s ever seen a NightFury...
…until now. I loved Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon and this rendition by Mike Nieves is spot on. I especially like the menacing look of the eyes, but there’s a lot of dragon to love in this.
Sir Nadroj captures a Wyvern
Jordan Schwartz (Sir Nadroj) has become quite adept at building organic creatures lately — a particular challenge in our angular medium. His latest creature is the mythical medieval wyvern.
Jordan’s wyvern is articulated from neck through tail, and while it looks like a rather odd dragon, his rendition is quite accurate (as portrayals of non-existent creatures go).
“Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten.”
Well, I’m way late on this one. I meant to post it here right away, but forgot. Absolutely no excuse for that. But better late than never.
Stitch is one of my all-time favorite Disney characters and Jordan’s sculpture is most excellent. From the stance of the character to the look on his face, from the use of the stickers on the ears (yes, they are official LEGO) to the use of black teeth for fingers, everything about this build meshes very well.

Dissecting a frog
I can say with near certainty that this is the first time realistic dissection has been rendered in LEGO. I can almost smell the well-exposed guts of Dave Kaleta’s celebration of biology classes. Now what tags do I use for this one?
Built for the MOCPages MOC Olympics.
That’s gotta leave a mark
The one occasion where I don’t hate mosquitoes is when VampireBohrok builds one out of Lego. The technique of using flexible hoses to simulate the legs is really effective.
