An aggressive movement
It’s been fun to see folks getting a lot of use out of the new eyeball pieces from the very popular Mixels sets. But legendary Japanese builder Moko has just taken us into a whole new realm with this build, which is literally a piece of crap!
Hopefully this isn’t Moko’s commentary on the Mixels theme, as I think it would make a swell additional to the forthcoming Brown Fang Gang range of Mixels sets. Maybe the next image will put things in context…
…or maybe not. Why is the poo angry? Why does it have a tongue? Is this what can happen if I don’t get enough fiber in my diet? Unfortunately Moko’s usually very detailed blog does not yield any clues, just a bunch of potty humor. I thoroughly approve!
Do Mini-Figs Dream Of Plastic Sheep?
The current collaboration between the planet’s most profitable and awesome toy company and the America’s longest everything television show seems like a match made in heaven. I hope you all got to watch Sunday’s crossover episode Brick Like Me, and are now poring over it frame-by-frame to catch all 52 in-jokes and bad puns.
Judging by the activity on Flickr, it looks many of you are now having a ton of fun with your Simpsons LEGO collectible minifigures too. If you haven’t got yours yet …what’s wrong with you?!
I guess David Pickett (fallentomato) couldn’t wait for either spin-off, since he recently decided to build the First Family of Animation out of raw bricks…

I’m not an elephant!
On this May 4th, let’s not forget some of the often overlooked but nevertheless very important characters from the Star Wars universe. I speak of course of Jabba’s keyboard player and occasional restauranteur Max Rebo. So I present to you my Star Wars Day Definitive Guide to every known LEGO version of everyone’s favorite azure non-elephant:

Art Imitating Art
TKH takes his signature “sparkly-eyed female” building style away from the usual Anime fare for a moment, to take us behind the scenes of some classic works of art. Apparently Johannes Vermeer’s Girl With a Pearl Earring was having a little snake trouble …which may explain her distracted look!
Also check out Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa failing to get comfortable, and Jacques-Louis David’s Napoleon Crossing the Alps preparing to eat some snow.
The Great Stone Dragon Awakes
Mushu is almost certainly my favorite Disney character, and this hilarious sculpture by Mike Nieves (Retinence) is perfect. I’m amazed that Mike was able to effectively pull off such a spindly creature while maintaining enough structural integrity for it stand.
Motorized Patriot from BioShock Infinite
We may or may not have featured Carl Merriam (carlmerriam) a few times during his Iron Builder match against Matt De Lanoy (Pepa Quin). Iron Builder definitely can bring forth some amazing creations, like we’ve seen in the past.
I can’t help but laugh, though, at Carl’s last one. At first glance I recognized the caricature but it took me a minute to pinpoint what was off. At first I was confused at why he had wings. The massive gun was the last thing I noticed.
Either way, take a peak at Carl’s vision of a motorized patriot from BioShock Infinite!
Zero Suit Samus in LEGO
Eero Okkonen (Pate-keetongu) captured the smooth curves of Samus in her Zero Suit. You can read more about the thought process behind this creation on the builder’s blog: Cyclopic Bricks.
She may be trouble, but oh she’s pretty
For years I’ve marveled that so many people discount Bionicle and Hero Factory as worthless to adult builders. There are many, many fantastic examples that prove otherwise, and this stunning she-devil by Eero Okkonen (Pate-keetongu) is just the latest example of great ingenuity and creativity being displayed without using many traditional stud-and-tube bricks. The rubber bands forming the ties on the bodice, and the Bionicle chains forming the skirt are both phenomenal parts usages.
