We love builds with character! Creating characters from LEGO elements, whether traditional System bricks or using elements from Bionicle and Constraction themes, is an amazing way to showcase your building skills. Brining out emotion and personality in bricks is an art!

Make Donald Drumpf (and LEGO) again

Here in South Africa politicians are a joke. While you may be shouting at me stating that it’s the same in your country, did your president ever state that showering after sex lowers the chance of contracting HIV? Did your health minister need a liver transplant after heavy drinking? Did you have a finance minister who was in office for a total of four days?

All that said, let me tell you, Donald ~~Trump~~ Drumpf is still a real joke of a politician. The rest of the world is looking in shock as he continues to gain popularity and we’re legitimately scared of him becoming president of the United States.

To mark these trying times, SuckMyBrick brings us this recreation of the loudmouth. Uncanny, isn’t it?

Khugrock Ironhand: A bright-eyed and bushy-bearded dwarf

Some LEGO pieces seem destined for a particular use, though often it takes a keen eye and a clever mind to discover that perfect use. One such piece is the Bionicle Crystal Armor piece, which has found its perfect application as a dwarven beard on this fantastic character by Djordje. That piece will now always look like a golden beard to me.

When do LEGO creations look the best? If you answered “when it actually doesn’t look like LEGO” then you’ll love this Mace-bearing armored character from Eero Okkonen, a builder that has brought us awesome creations like characters from The Hobbit and Discworld.

Cody Purviance is participating in the ABS Builder Challenge on Flickr, in which the current seed part is the bright green telephone. Cody has put it to great use as the legs on this adorably professorial caterpillar. Will he turn into a butterfly when he achieves tenure?

Tis the season

Between such varied projects as his Discworld and Mad Max characters, Finnish builder Eero Okkonen has been working on a series of LEGO sculptures depicting the four seasons personified as female spirits. Eero capitalizes on his signature technique that blends System and Bionicle pieces, including some great use of leaf parts as well. My favorite has to be the representation of Spring, with her windblown hair and a dress that utilizes balloon parts from a certain LEGO Friends set (parts I always thought would be useless, but which builders continue to make great use of).

One small step, one cute spacewalk

Continuing his quest to find the absolute limit of use for the Belville shoe, Grantmasters has stepped it up a notch by creating the most adorable spaceman imaginable–one that manages to use fewer bricks than a pair of hands has fingers. Speaking of which, the spaceman’s arms and legs are actually made from a pair of minifigure hands!

Once Upon A Brick: Disney characters as LEGO bricks

Chris Adams has developed a series of Disney characters based around the shape of the basic LEGO brick. Entitled Once Upon A Brick, his collection currently has at least 18 Disney characters from Mickey Mouse to characters from Frozen. The concept is simple: The body shape of each character is based on the basic LEGO brick with specific colours and added features to really identify the character.

Captain Kittypool! No, just Kittypool.

If you even think about bringing government, baby sitters, bedtimes, frowny faces, bushy mustaches, or negativity of any kind into her town then she’s gonna do to your face what Limp Bizkit did to music in the late 90s! Grantmasters, continuing in his quest to find new and exciting uses for that Belville shoe, created this adorable mash-up of everyone’s favorite brick-built pony-cat and the foul-mouthed antihero that’s currently tearing up the box office. Cotton-candy coated chimichangas anyone?

Super Mario Bricks

Rod Gillies was clearly a young whipper-snapper back in the early 1980s when Super Mario Bros was released as a video game. Mario and Luigi, the adventurous plumbers who explored Mushroom Kingdom, have evolved into Super Mario Bricks. They made dungarees cool again and gave some much needed resuscitation to the video game market.

If your Mario Bros knowledge is up to par, you will note that Rod definitely has an eye for detail. Mario was the shorter, more portly brother, while Luigi was taller with a smoother, more groomed moustache. The M and L initials on the caps is always a good fallback option to avoid confusion. I bet Rod was glad that brother Sergio didn’t make the cut — some letters are tougher than others in LEGO.

LEGO Deadpool, bricks without a mouth

With Deadpool finally being released either today or tomorrow (depending on where you live and when you read this), the world looks like it’s finally getting the Deadpool movie we’ve all wanted. To coincide with this, Jonas has recreated the, erm, lower half of the merc with a mouth. Winter is Here

Only a few months remain until the epic return of Game of Thrones, and the torturous wait for season six has been a killer on everyone (certain characters especially). But while the premiere is almost here, don’t forget to notice that winter is already upon us. Take for instance this bust built by Omar + Kamitera Ovalle, which depicts a chilling White Walker:

While those in Westeros tend to ignore them, this is one build you don’t want to miss. The husband and wife team have also constructed many other Game of Thrones builds over the past two years, all of which can be viewed on their stunning Flickr album.

Thriller, Killer

TBB regular Letranger Absurde continues to refine his unique style and churn out one great character build after another. This week he graced us with not one, but two, new examples: the erstwhile King of Pop, and a lady assassin who seems to be taking her work a bit too seriously. Both feature stellar poses, great proportioning, and a delightful use of Mixel eyes. It’s almost enough to make this aged character builder wanna hang up his bricks! I tip my hat to you, sir…
