Yautis of Agimel, builder Djordje dubs this fierce fighter. I don’t know what the name means, but it sounds fitting for a warrior such as this. The whole character is well sculpted, but the helmet is amazing. The way the claws weave together to form a silver helmet is splendid, with two points of yellow revealing the beady eyes beneath.
Magic the Gathering is full of amazing source material for LEGO builders. Last month we featured a jaw-dropping LEGO Sword of Feast and Famine and today we’re looking at Pascal‘s wonderful brick-built Gisela, the Broken Blade. Pascal’s version of Gisela somehow manages to capture both the essence of the original artwork while still remaining true to the builder’s own personal style.
For those unfamiliar with the MTG storyline, Gisela is a powerful angel that was corrupted by the Eldrazi titan, Emrakul (an invincible spaghetti-monster). The pink bits on this build are the first signs of what I call “spaghettification.” Long story short, things do not go well for Gisela or her sister Bruna.
I must admit, I constructed this LEGO version of Mercy from Overwatch in her Halloween witch outfit, after some frustration with the game’s loot box rewards. Loot boxes won’t give me Witch Mercy? That’s fine, I’ll build my own! At BrickFair Virginia 2016, I picked up some claw and horn pieces in bright light yellow, thinking they would be useful as blonde hair on a character build, and I’m glad they worked out well as Mercy’s hairstyle.

First up is a great pair of custom minifigs from Yong Hoon Yoon. His minifig scale Jack and Sally are just wonderful; Sally is spot on.
When Angry Birds come knocking on your door howling “Trick or Treat!” you’d better hope you’ve got some full-sized candy bars in your bowl, or you might find your spooky yard besieged by feathered terrors. These fantastic little LEGO foul birds were crafted by James Zhan, and they look delightfully upset at your “healthy” snacks.
This LEGO portrait of Frankenstein’s monster by David Alexander Smith employs a nifty negative-space technique to create a classic movie-poster feel. The lurching lines lend an air of misshapen monstrosity to the face, and the monotone palette imitates the harsh lighting of ancient horror flicks.
Tyler Clites is a master character sculptor, and he’s turned his hand to Stitch, the universe’s cutest little genetically-enhanced world destroyer from the beloved Disney film Lilo & Stitch. This LEGO Stitch stands 7 inches tall, and has 13 points of articulation so Stitch can be the expressive and lovable little monster he is, from wild terror to cuddly friend.
Tyler has submitted Stitch to LEGO Ideas, so maybe someday we’ll be able to buy one!
A few weeks ago we featured a lovely, fully posable LEGO Judy Hopps from Zootopia by talented Russian builder Sheo. I was hoping he’d also build Nick Wilde and some of the other charming characters from the movie, and my wish has now been granted. Nick’s expression is excellent, and the subtle sculpting of Nick’s shirt — a combination of System pieces and Technic panels — is particularly marvelous.

Who would have guessed that Beatrix “Black Mamba” Kiddo from the Kill Bill movies would look so good in LEGO? This build by Brandon Griffith is exceptional. Brandon used a great combination of studs and tiles to give Beatrix’s leather suit texture while maintaining a sleek overall shape. I love the little details like the sword dripping blood and the colorful logos on the Bride’s yellow motorcycle suit.
Every country has it’s stereotypes and when someone mentions Ireland, what are the first things that pop into your mind? Friendly, chatty, red headed, like a drink or three, plenty of siblings …but yoga gurus? Well, these three Irishmen created by Matt Rowntree are all expert practitioners in the art of Irish Yoga. We have a passed out ‘mooner’ who has lost a shoe as well as his belt! Mid-celebration soccer fan who seems to have enjoyed a half-time tipple when his team won (or maybe lost, given that black eye). And finally my favourite, with an ingenious flaming red beard who thinks he’s still walking and socialising, judging by his relaxed position on the floor.
The great thing about Irish Yoga is that it is all-inclusive. After a few celebratory drinks, we can all become masters in this ancient art.
It’s Friday night! And after a long week of toil, some of you will now be kicking back and settling in for a solid 48 hours of video gaming fun. But please remember to get up and move around once in a while, ok? Oh, and eat and drink as well! You don’t wanna end up like this literal die-hard gamer, who’s sad demise is modelled in LEGO for us by Letranger Absurde in this scene entitled “Death by MMO”.
This beautiful LEGO sculpture by Xavier Viloria is both intriguing and unique. The builder was inspired by the works of Mari Shimizu and hakkachan and those influences do show in this lovely build. The central doll-like bust is well shaped and those silent tears are a lovely touch. I also like the tendrils that travel through her neck and open into a flow of flowers within her chest.
Without a doubt, my favourite part are the flowers that are made from minifigure cloaks. What a great use of those cloth LEGO parts — very effective.
