What better way to wrap up today’s green-themed posts with a character inspired by Hayao Miyazaki, whose movies remind us how beautiful and fragile this world is.

The Arvo Brothers‘ latest project is inspired by Ghost In the Shell 2 and the disturbing works of Hans Bellmer. There are only two teaser pictures so far, but they’re worth it. I look forward to the gallery and must say that Arvo’s recent takes on fictional subjects have yielded really, really stunning results.

Long before the Power Rangers leapt across the Pacific onto American TV screens, Japanese TV was dominated by series after series of superhero shows, not least of which was Kamen (Masked) Rider.
Moko goes retro with his latest creation, an homage to the very first Kamen Rider:
From 1971 through today, Kamen Rider, his motorcycles, and the monsters he fights have been an integral part of the childhood of every child who grew up in Japan. That includes me, and this large-scale figure brings back a lot of great memories.
Hayao Miyazaki’s Porco Rosso never saw theatrical release here in the United States, and since it was released after I left Japan, I had to wait 13 years to see it (when it was released on DVD in 2005). The movie was worth the wait, and I just love Uspez Morbo‘s interpretation of protagonist Porco Rosso’s seaplane.

Future Boy Conan was an animated Japanese TV show in the late 1970s that helped solidify the reputations of renowned Studio Ghibli animators Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata.

Mike Crowley wins. He just does. At everything. More specifically, he’s found 7668 Rebel Scout Speeder and promptly created a truly unique minifig using the new helmet. Behold! Eva Mass Prodution Type (from the anime series Evangelion).
I missed somewhere along the way that there are transforming Gundam mobile suits. mumu rescues me from my own ignorance with his version of GN-003 Gundam Kyrios.

Mike Psiaki staves off the restive masses yearning for the as-yet-unconfirmed Speed Racer sets next year with this great little Mach 5, complete with Speed Racer and Chim Chim.

Izzo’s latest mecha is an update to his previous version of Ideon, from the anime series Space Runaway Ideon.

Unfortunately, Adrian Florea hasn’t included pictures of how his M3 Halftrack transforms into the Decepticon, but the before and after photos are certainly cool.
