Firefox Star Racer

Apparently I’m having a rough time kick-starting myself back into blogging. The first thing I posted today had been posted by one of the other Brothers Brick. Therefore, I’m posting something of my own, that I managed to finally photograph recently. None of the others can possibly have beaten me to this one. I started Continue reading →

PARASITE space scavenger

When I saw Ted Andes‘ Bionicle/System hybrid creation called the PARASITE, I took an instant liking to the Bionicle claws at the tips of the limbs. It’s also important to note that this nasty scavenger has adapted both offensive and evasive functions, and the escape pod would make for a nice hovercar.

Bulldozer + Creativity = Dozracer

Martin Latta used only the pieces from 7685 Dozer to build a pod racer. This is a perfect example of what creativity can achieve even with limited parts. You can see more in the Theme Bending Contest, which ends on March 31st.

Once again stealing the New York Toy Fair’s thunder, the first publicly available photos (read: not stolen or leaked) of late 2010 LEGO sets come from the Canadian Toy & Hobby Fair, via CTV tech reporter Kris Abel. Of particular note for LEGO Castle fans is the new Kingdoms theme. Check out Kris’ main post Continue reading →

The LEGOLAND Windsor website released the following image in a survey recently, depicting what is apparently a collection of minifigs that may be released next summer, starting around June 2010. The collection appears to include the following 16 figures: Caveman Cheerleader Clown Adventure-dude Crash Test Dummy Diver American Indian Magician Ninja Doctor/Nurse Robin Hood / Continue reading →

Preventing Power Miner cave-ins

In contrast to earlier this year, I don’t think there are enough Power Miners LEGO creations out there. It really is a pretty cool theme. Brandon Bannerman (Catsy) seems to agree, having recently posted this Mobile Roof Support rig. More pics on Flickr.

Jon Hall’s Cave Cruiser

Jon Hall (jonhall18) recently built this fantastic speeder. It incorporates a lot of great angles, without looking like it’s a bunch of sections being forced together. Instead, it really appears as though the hull came from a factory in one piece. It also features just enough greebles inside of the fins to look good, without Continue reading →

That’s a lot of pod racers

The pod racer contest on From Bombs to Boulders From Bricks to Bothans recently ended with some amazing entries. You can see them all in the contest thread. If you’re a member on FBTB, stay tuned for the exciting rounds of voting!

Blade Runner Pod-Racer

Over on Flickr, Larry Lars has posted an entry in FBTB’s pod racer contest that I love. It’s a mash-up of a pod-racer and a spinner from Blade Runner. He’s done a fantastic job with it, capturing all the little details from the original. I think that might even be Edward James Olmos in the Continue reading →

Monty Python podracer challenges Mac podracer as best LEGO mashup ever

The iPod Racer by Matt De Lanoy may have seemed the epitome of LEGO geekiness — a good thing! — but this “Swallow podracer” by tbone_tbl is quite possibly its equal: The podrace engines that represent King Arthur’s 5-ounce swallows tow a two-pound coconut pod, with the king’s trusty servant Patsy clopping along behind. It Continue reading →

Red Fleet Racer

James Turley (Turkguy) has been working on a podracer for FBTB’s contest, and what a solid bar-setting entry indeed! The nonagonal design of the engies is a rare technical treat and the red stripes on it are just gorgeous.
