The best LEGO sets reviewed on TBB in 2015 [News]

The end of the year is only a few days away, which means it’s time for a few end-of-year best-of lists. In 2015 LEGO released almost 800 sets ranging from small polybags to the massive 2996 part SHIELD helicarrier. We’ve done our best to review the more interesting ones. This is our top ten most popular set reviews of 2015.

  1. Exclusive review of LEGO Ideas Wall•E set designed by Angus MacLane
When Wall•E hit the big screen in 2008, it stole the hearts of cinema-goers. If movie critics had hearts, theirs would have been stolen too. Angus MacLane was Directing Animator for the movie and his LEGO version of the little robot is one of the LEGO Ideas sets released in 2015.

    21303 Wall•E (Review)

We had one of these sets before it hit the stores. Andrew’s exclusive review can be summed-up in just a few words: It’s awesome. You loved it as well, as it’s our most popular review.

Fan spends a year building 7,500-piece Millennium Falcon from the Force Awakens

I half joked in my post about improving Rey’s speeder that my next project would be to mod my 5,000-piece UCS Millennium Falcon set into the version seen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Hannes Tscharner planned a bit more ahead of me, and has spent the last year planning, designing, gathering the LEGO parts, and building his own Millennium Falcon from Episode VII.

Millennium Falcon (Starwars VII)

At 7,500 pieces, Marshal’s Millennium Falcon uses fully 50% more parts than the 5,195-piece official 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon (the second-largest LEGO set ever sold by part count, and arguably physically the largest set ever). This LEGO Millennium Falcon measures 82 x 54 x 18 cm, or nearly three feet long.

2015 LEGO Star Wars & LEGO Friends Advent Calendars (Day 24)

It’s Christmas Eve, which means it’s the final day of this year’s virtual LEGO Advent Calendar series here on The Brothers Brick.

As I predicted, the lazy git C-3PO has forced the hardest-working droid in the galaxy, R2-D2, to pull him along in the sled revealed yesterday — as proved in this photo by #yslego.

LEGO Nexo Knights Merlock 2.0 iOS / Android App released [News]

The LEGO Group have released NEXO Knights Merlock 2.0 App for Android and iOS. The app is free and there are no in-app purchases (phew!). Don’t forget to read our review of the physical Nexo Knights sets, too.

Nexo Knights App 3

Game back-story: The game is set in Knighton, a peaceful and beautiful kingdom, where amazing technology reigns supreme and life has been good  for 100 years. That is, until the evil jester Jestro lets loose the ‘terrible lava monsters‘ from the Book of Monsters. Only the five knights from the Knights Academy stand against the invading hordes of ‘terrible lava monsters‘, with the help of the digital wizard Merlok 2.0 who controls the NEXO Powers. They can have their powers upgraded to defeat the ‘terrible lava monsters’

Each of the NEXO knights come with their own shield, which can be scanned into the game to give their digital avatars new powers.  The app allows you to upload the various characters’ shield codes and additional codes into the game to “upgrade your power“.

Nexo Knights App 1

The codes are not only available by buying the NEXO Knight sets, according to the NEXO Knights FAQ, but also may be found in webisodes, mini-movies and many other places at Lego NEXO Knights Home. And, of course, they can be found in LEGO brand stores and on LEGO® NEXO KNIGHTS™ products. There is a power in each new episode of the LEGO® NEXO KNIGHTS™ TV-series and the LEGO Club Magazine.

Nexo Knights App 2

I’m off to play the game on my iPad now and to go on a powerhunt to find out if I can scan and upgrade my powers via the TBB Nexo Knights review shield image!

Here’s the official LEGO catalogue for January to June of 2016 [News]

Following our previous story about rough pictures taken of the German LEGO catalogue for 2016, we now have the genuine article from LEGO in PDF form, this time in English.

This is a carbon copy of the printed catalogues that will appear in stores. There are dozens of new sets, including a new wave of Elves featuring dragons, plenty of new City, Creator, and Friends sets, new Batman V Superman and Marvel pantheon Superhero sets, and a lot more.

Series 8 of Mixels unveiled [News]

Thanks to a Russian LEGO catalog, we now have a look at which characters comprise Series 8 of Mixels, even before Series 7 has even been released. While we don’t know each Mixel’s name yet, Series 8’s three tribes are a firefighting tribe, a medic tribe, and — out of sync with the other two — a pirate tribe. See all of the characters after the break.

First looks at the LEGO Angry Birds theme [News]

Here’s our first look at the LEGO Angry Birds theme since LEGO released this teaser image in the fall. I’m a bit shocked to say that — contrary to my expectations — they don’t look too bad. Have a look at the set images below the jump. (Sadly it’s not the highest resolution, but we’re sure better images will follow soon.)
