Daniel García (AlterEvo) comes back from a half-year hiatus with this ground-breaking creation. The fact that it is actually a fantasy Victorian fortress makes it much more refreshing than yet another castle (not that I’m against castles). This almost looks like a combination of two models: a floating rock planted onto a town in the mountains.

Alex P (Sirens-Of-Titan) is a newcomer into the Lego scene on Flickr, but his fantasy era builds are far above the works of a novice. This goblin-infested ruin boosts the highlights of a leaning round tower and grass stems used for spiky trees. The texture of the landscape is also well done, and that river is gorgeous.

It’s wonderful to have Doctor Who back on the air, and even better that those of us watching it on BBC America don’t have to wait weeks for it after it airs in the UK. This week’s episode wrapped up the season opener rather nicely, and this LEGO treatment by Legoagogo is rather nice as well.
Jonathan Robson’s custom life-sized LEGO helmet reads comic books so you don’t have to. A USB drive pops into the back of the helmet that plays the audio content from comic books. You can see the full feature on Engadget.

With our announcement of Numereji 2421, it’s clear the convention season is upon us, but the collaborative display that we’re organizing is hardly the only group build at BrickCon this fall. Iain Heath has just announced PythonScape, a Miniland-scale homage to the wonder and beauty of Monty Python.
I’ve already called dibs on the Black Knight, but there are still plenty of funny characters and scenes open for contributions. Following the success of Bricks of Character, I’m sure this is going to be awesome.
I know nought about Iron Man but Alex Schranz (“Orion Pax”) was obviously a fan of the comic and has dedicated 55cm worth of ABS to recreating this armoured superhero. His dedication to recreating the ‘muscles’ on the figure really lend it a drawn air. And as an added bonus the light in the chest actually works. Superb building.
The keen-eyed will notice a slight difference between the most recent four shots and the rest.
LEGO M4 Sherman tanks are the single most popular tank to build, so it’s nice to see a builder break out of that mold and reproduce in LEGO a less popular but more interesting tank design. PhiMa does this with the tank that preceded the Sherman, the M3 Grant.
Three reasons I think the Sherman is so popular are because 1) They were the most common tanks by the end of World War II, 2) The convention is to build them in gray (standing in for olive drab) and gray is a fairly common color in LEGO, and 3) The structure above the chassis is fairly straightforward (though the curves are hard to get right in LEGO). In contrast, M3 Grants were used widely by British forces in North Africa, requiring tan instead of gray/olive, and they’re a lot more complex — especially with those two turrets — above the treads.
But PhiMa’s version isn’t just about the pretty exterior; he’s built significant playability features into the model, including a full interior and detailed engine.
Master Chief is neither the most interesting nor my favorite character from the Halo universe, but he is lucky to have the honor of being sculpted in LEGO by Jack Marquez (Ewok in Disguise).
Though a bit foreshortened in this photo, the assault rifle is a nice build in its own right.
Tyler Clites built a life-sized replica of the ARC gun from District 9. Nuff said. I’ll leave you to pick up pieces of your brain from the floor.
The Pagani Zonda is one of Firas Abu-Jaber‘s favorite cars — and it’s right up there for me, too. Fira’s LEGO version of this amazing supercar has all the right curves in all the right places.

Ed Diment (Lego Monster) will be arriving in New York City in two weeks with his USS Intrepid aircraft carrier to assemble and display it at the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum.
Ed will be there for two full days, Friday April 15 and Saturday April 16, after which the LEGO Intrepid will be on display through September. This is a great opportunity to meet Ed and see his epic World War II vessel in person.
