Mariann Asanuma (Model Gal) creates a wonderful miniland figure of the heroine Merida from Pixar Animation Studios’ Brave

The repetitive parts use to create Merida’s iconic hair is rather ingenious. Not to mention, the bow design as well.

USCSS Nostromo from Alien

Mihe Stonee spent 3 months making this 2′ 6″ model of the USCSS Nostromo from the movie Alien. I like the texture created from using of bent rigid tubes tacked on the tiled hull, which mimics the feature seen on the actual ship.

The Redlions Castle

This castle by ppao 66 is grand and impressive, and I wish there are more pictures to show it off.

Beautiful LEGO bonsai

Japanese artist Azuma Makoto usually creates his botanically themed pieces from real plants, but occasionally dabbles with materials as diverse as Astroturf and LEGO. One of his latest pieces is a gorgeous recreation of a bonsai pine tree built from bricks.

Firefly Serenity custom kit for sale

Those who were disappointed with CUUSOO’s rejection of tbone_tbl‘s Firefly Serenity can now purchase it as a custom kit with instructions and all the parts to assemble the model. It is being sold on Etadyne.com for $385, which I think is a fair price for this custom 2186-piece model.

Matt De Lanoy (Pepa Quin) creates my favourite scene from one of the most fantastic movies of all time…The Fifth Element! Matt says that he has wanted to build this for going on 2 years now. I am very happy that he got around to it!

For those of you that are lucky enough to be in the Chicago area, you can see this in person at the Cantigny 2012 Christmas Lego Train Show this Saturday and Sunday (December 8th & 9th).

LEGO rotary phone

Chris McVeigh’s telephone takes me back to my childhood. We had one that looked just like this. I haven’t missed rotary phones until now. Thanks, Chris!

Ee chee wa maa!!

I love Ewoks! When I was but a wee lad, I would run around the forest with a stick pretending I was on Endor. I even named my parents’ dog Wicket :)

So seeing Eric Druon’s (Baronsat) recent LEGO Star Wars creation just had me smilin’. He is just too darn cute :D

The spirit of the season...

Not content with the barrage of carols, mistletoe and evergreens, Simon Liu presents a visual guide to an alternate version of Jingle Bells. Made possible by the dynamic duo themselves and a familiar cast of characters and bright colors.

You can see each of the lyrics on their own. And for those that would like to see it in person, it’s on display at the LEGO Store in Toronto for the month of December!

Floodtown

Ever since the post-apocalypse theme became popular in the LEGO building community, there have been many interpretations of how the world ends whether through military conflict or zombies. Some of the more exotic visions involve the settings of snow, swamp, and underground.

Now, Julandrius and Eturior add a new element to ApocaLego – the flood. The sunken buildings and worn-down walls are catchy features of their dioramas.

Master Cheese

We see a lot of bright green and dark green Master Chiefs built from LEGO, but the legendary John-117 SPARTAN II super-soldier from Halo is actually wearing olive green armor.

Tyler (Legohaulic) recently picked up over a hundred “cheese” slopes in the new color, and this is the result.

The most accurate LEGO Master Chief? By no means, but this is an absolute tour-de-force in single-part repetition, and certainly the first Master Chief sculpture in the correct color. It’ll be interesting to see what other new LEGO models this new color will inspire.
