About Tromas

LEGOmaniac for life, TR has never forgotten the joy that playing with LEGO brings. With three young sons it is just further reason to never stop playing. Typically a SPACE! builder, but has been known to dabble in TOWN! as well. Has to yet to try CASTLE! in any meaningful amount. So please feel free to check out his flickr account if you are up for some SPACE!, the occassional TOWN! and very little, if any CASTLE!

Zombie!

I will admit to not watching zombie movies, because…well…they freak me out (Shaun of the Dead notwithstanding).

However, I can still appreciate a nicely created zombie model. Especially one as cool as Chris Maddison’s (cmaddison) latest creation.

Zombie!

…still creeps me out though!

Check out the full photo set for all the creepy details.

G.I. Joe + Classic Space = Win

When I first saw Jason Heltebridle’s (Moctagon Jones) latest creation, I immediately thought Cobra POGO. In my books anything that reminds me of a classic G.I. Joe vehicle is glorious…the fact that Jason built a cleanly designed and nicely detailed space vehicle helped too I suppose.

Everything in its right place.

Chris’ (Ironsniper) AV Transport Truck is an example of a model where no piece is wasted. He says that this was a morning power-build, that is some efficient building! The more I look at this, the more I love it. The sleek near-future style with the clean colour scheme and simplistic cargo all come together so nicely.

Every time I create something out of LEGO, I try and do it in such a way that every piece has a purpose. I don’t think I have achieved this yet, but Chris’ model makes me want to try harder.

Filthy Hobbitses!

I have a feeling that we are going to see a large influx of builds inspired by The Hobbit, and Iain Heath certainly starts us out with a bang!

Nyan Cat

Not much explanation is needed…just that this creation by H.Y. Leung (Mr. Attacki) is awesome.

Brave Merida

Mariann Asanuma (Model Gal) creates a wonderful miniland figure of the heroine Merida from Pixar Animation Studios’ Brave

Brave Mereda

The repetitive parts use to create Merida’s iconic hair is rather ingenious. Not to mention, the bow design as well.

Portal 2 Stop Motion

Alex Kobbs (Kooberz) is no stranger to LEGO stop motion films. His works have been featured here in the past. His latest film based on the Portal 2 video game has just become public.

Welcome to Fhloston Paradise

Matt De Lanoy (Pepa Quin) creates my favourite scene from one of the most fantastic movies of all time…The Fifth Element! Matt says that he has wanted to build this for going on 2 years now. I am very happy that he got around to it!

For those of you that are lucky enough to be in the Chicago area, you can see this in person at the Cantigny 2012 Christmas Lego Train Show this Saturday and Sunday (December 8th & 9th).

2012 NnoVVember Map

Once again Pascal (pasukaru76) worked his magic with the final Nnovvember map. This year was a very impressive turnout of 269 Vic Vipers by 133 different builders! I actually found it hard to keep up with all the amazing creations this year…I am still playing catch up in fact.

Nnovvember 2012

Awesome job everyone and as usual a huge thanks to Pascal! It really makes me proud to be a part of such an amazing community that continues to come together from all corners of the Earth to remember and honour the late Nate “Nnenn” Nielsen.

Ee chee wa maa!!

I love Ewoks! When I was but a wee lad, I would run around the forest with a stick pretending I was on Endor. I even named my parents’ dog Wicket :)

So seeing Eric Druon’s (Baronsat) recent LEGO Star Wars creation just had me smilin’. He is just too darn cute :D

I came on to write this post and had to laugh when I saw what Chris had just posted…it would seem that SPARKART! had a similar stroke of creative genius as Gilcelio :D
