LEGO reveals BMW R 1200 GS motorcycle set, announces new partnership with BMW [News]

This morning LEGO announced a brand new partnership with BMW Motorrad (BMW’s motorcycle brand) and revealed the first product of that partnership: the LEGO Technic 42063 BMW R 1200 GS Adventure motorcycle. The Technic roadster will have 603 pieces, and stands 18 cm high, 33 cm long and 10 cm wide. The set will include a special commemorative Technic piece to celebrated LEGO Technic’s 40th anniversary in 2017, and will be available Jan. 01, 2017. We don’t have word on the price yet.

While this is the first licensed motorcycle, the news closely follows LEGO picking up the Caterham Seven license, and LEGO has a long history of other licensed vehicles, such as the Volkswagen Beetle and Ferrari F40. Read the full press release below.

LEGO Star Wars 75059 UCS Sandcrawler on sale for $60 off, retiring soon [News]

The Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) 75059 Sandcrawler has just gone on sale on Amazon for $63 off its normal price, bringing it down to only $236.99. That’s 21% off, a rare sale for a UCS set. LEGO announced earlier this year that the Sandcrawler would be retiring soon, so it’s only a matter of time before the currently available stock runs out and the price skyrockets.

Find the Sandcrawler on Amazon for $236.99.

The Sandcrawler isn’t the only good LEGO bargain right now, though. We highlighted a number of great deals in a sales roundup last week, and many of them are still active. Below, you can check out some more awesome holiday sales.

More LEGO City sets revealed for 2017 [News]

Last week we got our first look at 2017’s City sets, starting with the full Police line. Today we get a look at what the civilians in LEGO City will be doing next year, and it seems they’re rather active with aerial acrobatics, rally racing, deep sea fishing, and more. And, of course, to feed all that sporting, there’s a food truck serving fresh pizza. Check out all 9 new sets below!

Mount Rushmore, not of stone, but of LEGO

There’s an election going on — but you don’t want to hear about that. Instead, how about some famous Presidents from the past? Better yet, how about making them out of LEGO? The faces of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt are carved in stone on Mount Rushmore, and this sculpture by Dave Guedes captures remarkable likenesses in brick form of the heads of state.

A Wizened Dragon to Bring You Victory

Aaron Newman‘s latest dragon is this beautiful sand-green and and gold beast. As we discussed in our interview with Aaron earlier this year, he builds in the style of official sets, so the dragon is completely poseable and quite sturdy unlike many fan-built LEGO dragons we highlight. I’d love to have this creature sitting on my desk, perhaps leaping into battle.

Awesome Two-gate Minifig-scale LEGO Airport

Builder LEGO 7 brings us a beautifully modern two-gate airport. Look closely, because this model is impressively large and very thoroughly detailed with all the hustle and bustle of real aviation.

Airport-17

The first minifigure-scale LEGO airport, 6392 Airport, released in 1985. Since then LEGO has produced about a half dozen more, most recently 60104 Airport Passenger Terminal. They’ve all been fantastic sets, and the planes have grown larger and more detailed with each iteration. However, they all suffer from one flaw: the terminals just aren’t big enough, even for very small airports, and none includes a jet bridge. Not so with LEGO 7’s stunning creation, which features not one but two jet bridges so jetsetters in this airport don’t have to step outside to disembark. Check out more photos below.

A Hellish Warrior Never Fears His Enemies While He Still Holds His Axe

Yautis of Agimel, builder Djordje dubs this fierce fighter. I don’t know what the name means, but it sounds fitting for a warrior such as this. The whole character is well sculpted, but the helmet is amazing. The way the claws weave together to form a silver helmet is splendid, with two points of yellow revealing the beady eyes beneath.

LEGO City sets for 2017 revealed [News]

Here’s the lineup of City sets for the first wave of 2017. Police are a surefire seller for the City theme, so it’s no surprise that the first wave revealed focuses exclusively on law enforcement. 2017 will bring everything from ATVs to helicopters to mobile command centers for the world’s most crime-ridden city. We don’t have the prices yet, but it won’t be too hard to guess from the part counts. Check out all 8 sets below.

LEGO Creator Expert 10244 Fairground Mixer and more discounted on Amazon [News]

Creator Expert sets are hard to find in stores, and even harder to find on a good sale. However, Amazon currently has 10244 Fairground Mixer for 33% off its normal $149.99 price, bringing this 1,746-piece set down to just $100.94.

This might be a great time to stock up on an epic present for that special builder in your life — or maybe even treat yourself: Halloween gifts are a thing, right? This is also a great chance to get this two-year-old set on sale before it retires and the price skyrockets. The previous set in the fairgrounds theme, 2009’s 10196 Grand Carousel, is now selling for a staggering ten times its original retail price of $250.
(Update: It looks like Amazon has sold out of the Fairground Mixer.)

Amazon has a lot of other great sets on sale currently too. Check them out below.

You’d better not trick these Angry Birds on Halloween

When Angry Birds come knocking on your door howling “Trick or Treat!” you’d better hope you’ve got some full-sized candy bars in your bowl, or you might find your spooky yard besieged by feathered terrors. These fantastic little LEGO foul birds were crafted by James Zhan, and they look delightfully upset at your “healthy” snacks.

LEGO 21306 The Beatles Yellow Submarine [Review]

LEGO’s crowd-sourced Ideas platform is on a roll this year, with sets and news coming in rapid succession. Early this year we reviewed the 21305 Maze, and learned that the Apollo 11 Saturn V and Adventure Time characters will become sets. At the beginning of this month, LEGO announced the Old Fishing Store, and we reviewed the 21307 Caterham Seven 620R at its launch a few weeks ago. Now, 21306 The Beatles Yellow Submarine is available on The LEGO Shop. The set will retail for $59.99 USD and contains 550 pieces.

UPDATE: 21306 LEGO Beatles Yellow Submarine is out now!
