Take a look up at the night sky. If you’re lucky, you’ll see the International Space Station high above you. If you miss it, and don’t want to wait for their orbit to fly by again, you’re welcome to observe this lovely model from Jonas.

We found Nemo! And Dory!
Thirteen years ago, we met Marlin and Dory as they searched everywhere to find Nemo, befriending sea turtles, sharks (fish are friends, not food!), and learned to speak whale. This year, we’ll join familiar fishes once again to find Dory.
To help us out, BuildFiend has partnered with Nunki-psi bringing us these fantastic digital sculptures of Nemo, Marlin, and Dory.
The cow jumped over the moon
Hey, diddle diddle! Anyone seen a cat playing a fiddle? And where on earth did the knife and spoon go? I’ll bet Jason Allerman knows, since he’s gone and built this lovely sculpture of the cow and the moon. I’m quite partial to the detail of the moon, and that sly grin.
The cow reminds me of a small chain of chicken restaurants who encourage us to eat more poultry. The ski pole as a tail is pretty neat.
TBB has featured a number of Jason’s builds in the past, including his holiday helper cookie robot and Sisyphus, and I’d encourage you to check out more from his flickr stream for other excellent creations.
Rust in the trees
As you may or may not have realized, I have a serious soft-spot for decaying, dying things, especially if beautifully rendered in LEGO.
Zach Bean gives us this tiny, forgotten vehicle that will never drive again. Instead of passengers, only trees sit on what remains of seats. Eventually, the forest will swallow it entirely, as it will all of us.
Where water and earth meet
Water is quite fascinating, really. It has the power to create and destroy. It has carved the earth over the centuries to create the world we see today. It continues its slow work each and every day.
A bit philosophical for a Saturday morning, but for that, I look to Anu Pehrson who posted this absolutely lovely seaside village. With her build, she focused on how water interacts with stone to create arches and the curves of the coast, which she’s accomplished beautifully.

Pocket-sized BB-8 for your adventuring needs
I think we can all agree that BB-8 is pretty darn adorable and an excellent addition to the Star Wars universe. Don’t you just want to cuddle him? Marketing ploy or not, his fiery thumbs-up made me giggle. Everybody needs a little droid in their life, and Irwan Prabowo gives us the perfect pocket-sized LEGO version.
LEGO Nutcrackers for your holiday chestnuts
I’m sure many of you have your chestnuts roasting by the open fire. Those of us NOT in Florida or the northeast might even have jack frost nipping at our noses. The Cascade Mountains have certainly made up for last winter with nearly 12 feet of snow in the last 25 days.
Julius von Brunk gives us these festive, whimsical nutcrackers to join in all of our festivities. Like real nutcrackers, these open and close their jaws by means of a lever. You too can have these as part of your traditions, as he’s been kind enough to provide a tutorial on Instructables.
Tragic end for a snowman
It’s a tough world right now for a snowman. Is anyone forecast for snow tomorrow? Rocky Mountains, put your hand down. We’re talking about everyone else, who are going to experience the great joy of a warm, sunny Christmas morning. As a former Florida resident, I’m so, so sorry.
Also, please someone tell Dorothy that tornado season might not be over.
I could never quite get behind a Florida Christmas, and this snowman very clearly couldn’t either. Fortunately, Earl Ware was on hand to capture the snowman’s fate.
Someone might want to tell Olaf.
