Of all the new weapon variants introduced in Halo 5: Guardians, Nornfang, Spartan Linda-058’s custom sniper rifle, is my favorite. The camouflage and lone wolf designs applied to the classic Halo sniper body was inspiration enough to get building. My LEGO replica of Nornfang measures 54″ long (that’s 171 LEGO studs), weighs 9 pounds, and features a moving trigger, sliding bolt/charging handle, and removable box magazine.

It’s rare that I find LEGO Halo builds which deliberately stray from an exact replica of the source material. That’s one reason why I like what Stephan Niehoff created with his mash-up of Halo’s iconic Scorpion tank and LEGO’s own Blacktron II theme. Another reason: the mash-up works beautifully.

As builder Andrew Somers mentioned, he had fun building multiple variant models of the same SUV frame. I have to say, it’s fun to see how many variations he can crank out. Check out his police, civilian, off-roading, and military versions in this fantastic lineup. Which one is your style?
Destiny has an amazing diversity to the designs of its exotic tier weapons. They range from the elegance of Hawkmoon, to the futuristic sleekness of SUROS Regime. LEGO weapon builder ZaziNombies built another design further defining the varied exotic arsenal. His replica No Land Beyond, a sniper rifle inspired by the Russian rifle Mosin-Nagant in appearance and name, captures the wooden rifle body, long barrel, and iron sights well with approximately 1400 pieces. Watch him demonstrate his LEGO prop and compare it to the in-game model in this video.
Star Wars: Battlefront delivers plenty of nostalgia for Star Wars fans wanting to battle on familiar worlds of Tatooine, Hoth, and the forest moon of Endor. Interestingly, developers DICE also included the volcanic world of Sullust, which was home to Imperial bases and manufacturing complexes, and is my favorite battlefront in the game. Markus19840420 presents a diorama showing the three major scenery types you’ll find on Battlefront’s Sullust (obsidian and lava rivers, massive rocky cliffsides, and Imperial architecture) all blended together well. I especially like the integration of the bunker into the jagged cliff.
Is that Boba Fett on the overlook? The rebels are about to be wrecked. Fett is overpowered.
Titanfall is one of my all-time favorite games and a highly underrated multiplayer title. So many hours of titan versus titan battles makes Marius Herrmann‘s IMC Stryder Titan (which is the best of the three titan classes!) instantly recognizable. The detailing is accurate to the in-game lightweight Stryder frame, from the various sensors on the canopy, to the little steps the pilot hops on to enter. Now I want to fall back onto the virtual battlefield and punch some pilots out of their Titans.
Inspired by the abundance of awesome sci-fi vehicles in James Cameron’s Avatar, Marius Herrmann constructed the AT-99 “Scorpion” Gunship from the film. The whole build looks as true to the film’s AT-99 as can be built from LEGO; from the massive iconic rotors, to the fuselage shape, and even the overkill payload.

Really, I’ll take anywhere that looks like it has temperatures above zero degrees. No complaints from me if it’s a place as lovely as Gabe Umland‘s Spanish villa. His architecture and location is complemented by several small details, like the vines, hanging planters, and telescope on the balcony, to give the scene a lived-in feel.
Registration for Brickworld Chicago 2016 is now open. Brickworld Chicago is held June 15-19, 2016, at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center in Schaumburg, IL.
Registration
There are three registration tiers with their perks outlined on the convention page. All registration types are ages 18+; registrants under 18 years of age must have a parent/guardian register and attend Brickworld with them. All Access and Full registration is available until 5/16/16. After that date, Late registration is the only option.
All Access registration is $55 and allows access to all scheduled events and activities, and includes a name badge and the Brickworld commemorative brick.
Full registration is $80 and includes everything from the All Access tier plus eligibility for displays, door prizes, the goody bag, and Brickworld awards. Full registration is limited to 700 registrants.
Late registration is $100 and allows access to all scheduled events and activities, and includes a name badge and eligibility for collaborative displays only.
Hotel
Brickworld is held at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center, and attendees can choose to stay at the connected Renaissance Hotel for an event rate of $139/night. Two room types are available: 1 king bed, or 2 double beds. Phone and online reservations for this event rate can be found here.
At least, he will try. Just imagine torokimasa‘s adorable LEGO Kylo Ren throwing a tantrum and vandalizing First Order equipment! While the technique the builder used for the lightsaber blades would have been lazy for any other lightsaber, I think it works great to emulate the unstable blade effect on Ren’s crossguard saber.
Inspired by the blade construction in the recently featured replica of Darth Vader’s lightsaber, and by my three viewings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I constructed a LEGO prop replica of Kylo Ren’s crossguard lightsaber. Measuring 41″ long (30″ blade), and built in four days (4-5 hours building time), the LEGO saber can be swung and slashed around without breaking.
The unstable, crackling blade effect was important for me to capture, as it is a unique detail to Kylo Ren’s lightsaber as much as the haphazard hilt construction and the crossguard. The best way I thought to achieve the blade effect was the texture of 1×2 grill tiles in translucent red.
Ren’s lightsaber would make a fine addition to my collection!
Today we present a pair of builds paying tribute to the late Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister (1945-2015), a man who truly kept rocking so long as he was breathing. Eero Okkonen built a mini bust capturing the rock-n-roll legend’s likeness well.
A simple scene of Lemmy’s hat, bass, and whiskey, the only thing missing from Jonas Obermaier‘s scene is the ace of spades!
