While not a functional siege weapon, this minifig-scale trebuchet built by Wookieewarrior looks great. Having built a couple of functional trebuchets for past physics classes, I appreciate the realism of the structural members and the long base that should prevent the machine from tipping forward. If you thought stepping on a LEGO brick is painful, try having LEGO launched at you!
Sean Cassidy induces nostalgia for the often overlooked Halo 3: ODST with his diorama of the final stand at the entrance to Uplift Nature Reserve, New Mombasa. Having fought many campaign playthroughs and firefights on this particular area, it seems Sean’s layout is near perfect. His choice of colors and techniques for the entrance, overlook, and planters fit the New Mombasa style of a believable yet futuristic city.
There are all kinds of vignettes within the overall massive diorama to find, shown on Sean’s Flickr. My favorite is the face-off between gravity hammer wielding Brute Chieftain and rocket launcher wielding ODST. Yes, that much firepower is necessary against a Chieftain.
I never would have guessed before playing Overwatch that I would build a pink gun for my LEGO arsenal. D.Va quickly became my favorite hero to play in Overwatch, and her pistol used outside her mech looked rad. Plus, the bunny charm hanging from the mag well was too adorable. I find building a pistol or similarly sized 1:1 scale build harder than larger rifles, swords, or launchers due to the limited space for structural stability and that weapons of this size can be held with one hand. Combine this with the limited selection of LEGO elements in pink, and you have quite the building challenge.
Working parts include a moving trigger and removable magazine. These features, a 360° view, and a small breakdown of some paneling are shown in the following video.

While most Fallout 4 players are building their own virtual Commonwealth settlements, Wookieewarrior took it to another level with the bricks. Haphazard construction techniques for the wood paneling, rusty colors for the amazingly detailed high voltage tower, and a large palette of subdued colors for the overgrowth create the perfect nuclear fallout atmosphere. I also enjoy the small details here, such as the precarious windmill on the roof and the tato plants out front.
What began as several friends having a blast leveling up together in Borderlands 2 became a fun collaborative effort to showcase the cast of characters in Borderlands 2 with bricks. Evan Bordessa, Simon Liu, Daniel Church, Caleb Wagoner, Alec Doede, Eric Leis, and myself (Nick Jensen) present a brick built trip back to Pandora in search of loot and mayhem. Originally intended to be a tribute to the playable vault hunters, the collaborative layout became more expansive, covering several other major characters and a few enemies and vehicles found on the journey to the Vault.
First, let’s take a look at the playable vault hunters. From left to right: Axton the Commando (Evan), Salvador the Gunzerker (Eric), Zer0 (Daniel), Gaige the Mechromancer and Deathtrap (Nick), Maya the Siren (Caleb), and Krieg the Psycho (Evan).
The full layout features additional characters, vehicles, and scenery found throughout Pandora. Bandits, Hyperion engineers, and Hyperion loaders of all types and sizes stand among characters such as Face McShooty, Mad Moxxi, Mr. Torgue, Angel, Handsome Jack, Claptrap, and Tiny Tina. A pair of Runners, vending machines printed by EclipseGrafx, loot boxes, and a New-U Respawn Station complete the Pandora feel.

When my friend Lego Junkie posted his version of Mack from ReCore a few days ago, I only had a sketch model of heads for the main characters Mack and Joule. His version, as well as new gameplay footage and screenshots from E3 of these characters, was just the motivation I needed to move forward with said sketches.
A year and another E3 after the announcement of upcoming action-adventure title ReCore, we finally got gameplay footage of the hero Joule and her adorable CoreBot dog Mack. Combine this with a former Halo writer writing ReCore’s story, and I am hyped. Lego Junkie keeps the hype train rolling with his cute LEGO version of robo-dog Mack. I enjoy how poseable his Mack build is; it brings out the character in what looks to be a fun companion to Joule.
Alec Doede shows his skills with constructing screen-accurate Star Wars builds again with this Walker Assault scene on planet Sullust inspired by EA Dice’s Star Wars Battlefront. The highlight and most prominent feature of the LEGO diorama is of course the AT-AT, with incredible detail in the legs and armor plating positioned at just the right angles. However, the realistically damaged TIE Fighter wing and the bunker to set the scene shouldn’t go overlooked.
Benny has one awesome mech to go with his spaceship thanks to Martin Gee. His heavy lifting mech has just the right amount of chunkiness and detail bits to give the illusion of function for my taste.
The classic space logo plate over the cockpit (which can comfortably seat Benny), matching shapes on the shoulder and thigh plates, and smaller precision arms are my favorite details here.
A couple contributors here at The Brothers Brick couldn’t resist the trend of building Overwatch heroes started with D.Va, Tracer, and Zenyatta. First we have TBB’s own Simon Liu flexing his mecha building talents with the nature-loving death machine Bastion.

Otto Blees built a follow-up to his LRV3 Javelin with Birth of History, another Guardian jumpship from Destiny. His LEGO rendition of this chunky craft looks fantastic and accurate to the in-game ship, but with a more vibrant color scheme. The subtle angles on the fuselage and detailing inside and outside of the massive thrusters are the standout features to me here.
Whether it’s from dropping pesky Spiny Eggs to slow your progress on World 4-1, fishing your kart out of the water on Banshee Boardwalk, or carrying the third-person camera though Peach’s Castle, Super Mario Bros players will recognize this LEGO Lakitu built by Cecilie Fritzvold. Some clever use of parts make Cecilie’s Lakitu come to life, like the mudguard piece for the cloud’s smile and a rubber band around Lakitu’s eyes for his goggles.
