Nothing says Pride like a rainbow mech? Sure, why not. Mechs come in all shapes and sizes, and colors too, as clearly proven by this colorful mech built by Albert Lee and ready to march in the local Pride parade. The mech is full of great details for such a small scale, with hydraulic-powered legs made with connected espresso handles, and bright pink toes using that great angled part used to form Doc Ock’s mechanical arms in the Marvel Daily Bugle set.
Microscale LEGO sets like the skyline architecture series proved that you don’t need a lot of parts to capture great architectural details, and fans have been building miniature versions of their favorite sets over the years with amazing results. This miniature model of the LEGO house by aido k is a fantastic example. The terraced section in the back uses small wall panel parts set on their side, and a printed tile from the DOTS theme makes the perfect accent. Overall the model is instantly recognizable and a perfect replica of the official LEGO Architecture set.
No matter how many times they get hit, the Powerpuff girls always get back up. But the three girls made from sugar, spice, and a splash of Chemical X are not the only ones. Their arch-nemesis Mojo Jojo also took quite a few hits, and always seemed to turn up. Iron builder Dan Ko knocks another one out of the park with this whimsical scene featuring the youngest and sweetest Powerpuff girl, Bubbles, and her old pal Mojo. The seed part here is the big green fig hand circling Mojo’s eyes, and peeking out on either side of his headband.

Building a relaxing and tranquil scene doesn’t have to use a lot of parts, as is clear from this Japanese temple scene by ABrickDreamer, which features some nice part usage in the shoulder epaulets on the roof of the temple. The tile waterfall is a great color choice and that cherry blossom tree made from just 4 parts is perfect. Another great detail is the pair of red roller skates used at the top of the temple.
Frank Herbert’s Dune has inspired movies, television shows, comic books, video games, and many amazing LEGO creations over the years, and this diorama by muad_brick is among some of the best that I have seen. Where many builders, myself included, give Shai-Hulud its iconic shape by building ring segments, muad_brick used a series of curved slopes arranged in a textured pattern. The rows of teeth fading into the dark gullet of the beast lends the scene an extra level of drama, and that ornithopter made with only a handful of parts is amazing!

Love ’em or hate ’em, the robot dog from Boston Dynamics is instantly recognizable at any LEGO scale. And this model by dicken liu may be one of the most accurate models yet, from the distinct yellow body to the diminutive little black feet. I can almost see its little side-stepping dance. But whatever you do, don’t even think about giving him a gun… we’ve all seen that Black Mirror episode, it will not end well.

While we don’t typically cover new sets in the Classic parts pack theme, when we saw LEGO Classic 11021 90 Years of Play announced, the nostalgia factor caught our eye. Meant to celebrate the company’s 90th anniversary this year, the set includes lots of nods to iconic themes and sets from throughout LEGO’s history. Personally, having grown up with some of the early themes like Castle, Town, and of course, Space, this set held a certain charm for me, and I’m sure many of you will feel the same. The set includes 1,100 pieces and is available now on LEGO’s website for US $49.99 | CAN $64.99 | UK £44.99.

When I think about alternate uses for a large formed part like an airplane cockpit, shrimp-shaped-submarine pincers is not the first thing to come to mind. But I guess that’s what sets
Level_Bell apart from all the rest. And that’s not the only nice part usage on this undersea vessel that brings new meaning to the phrase “shrimp boat.” Look closely at the top of the sub to find a starfish-shaped hubcap serving as a forward hatch.
What kind of crew would you expect to be piloting this shrimp-sub? Look inside to see hermit crab crewmen wearing sailor caps… too cute.
LEGO motorcycles come in all shapes and sizes, just like their real-life counterparts. Just one look at this chopper by RGB900 (whose handle sounds like a motorcycle model) and it is plain to see that they can pick the perfect parts to create the necessary details in a tiny size. From the long front forks to the 1×1 round tile used for the cap of the gas tank to the 2 clips that keep the bike perfectly balanced. And that brown tile for a seat looks more comfortable than it is.
