Mark Stafford (nabii) has had the inspired idea to harness to power of LEGO CUUSOO to help in our important, but until recently unknown, quest for Justin Bieber LEGO sets. So if you’d like to see JB in LEGO form, go vote.
I’ll get back to my usual programming when I return to Australia. But this opportunity could not be ignored.
The only thing I can fault Shannon Sproule (Shannon Ocean) for lately is his tardiness. Had he built all his wonderful new toys before Brickvention I could have seen them all in ABS. I guess his amazing photos suffice.
You can get your mind out of the gutter now. With a little help from his girlfriend, Nathaniel Brill (Shuppiluliumas) has taken LEGO Friends and given it a Flash Gordon remake. Yea-ahhhh! She’ll save every one of us.
It’s always nice to be introducedreintroduced to a new (see comments) LEGO builder with an unusual technical style. Malte Dorowski builds, for the most part, miniland(ish)-scaled cars with beautiful rounded forms. And he does them well. It’s hard to be annoyed at link spamming on our Facebook page when it looks this good.

Cole Blaq has busted out his custom Friends figure to use in this amazing rendition of the Alakuneda Think Tank from Ghost in the Shell. He’s used grey rather than the more accurate tan to make better use of curved parts but I think it’s a fair compromise to make for something that looks this good.
While I’m fairly sure I blogged this model when it came out, I’ve decided to join a campaign by (so far) Eurobricks and Brickset in pushing it on LEGO Cuusoo. So if you’d like one of these in your home, go vote for it.
It seems I just can’t get away from bloggin Shannon Sproule’s (Shannon Ocean) models lately. But this one is the pick of the bunch. I cannot describe how much in-love I am with this image, the models in it, and the general idea.
For whatever reason I really enjoy sci-fi Victoriana. There’s something about the pomp of the era of British Imperialism that is just so enjoyabale to see. Which is why Sylvain Amacher’s (captainsmog) latest model is a particular joy, capturing the spirit of the age alongside a good but if Jules Verne and H. G. Wells. Would be great to see some other examples of the Great Powers of ther era.
I’ve made no secret of my love for Jonathan Lopes’ urban landscapes and was a little sad to hear he’d destroyed his latest town. Luckily he’s back with a new project which promises to be very interesting: starting a new town in a sub-minifig scale. By my guess this is about half to 2/3rds the size of a regular train layout but so far seems to have most of the details I’ve always loved. I’m very excited.
At this year’s Brickvention I once again had the pleasure to team up with the very talented Mike Pianta (scruffulous) for a town/train diorama. Like last year’s Ararat we went for a rural Australian town theme, and again set it in 1972 to maximise our building fun. This time we chose Elmore for its distinctive train station.

While we’d learnt a lot from the previous year this one presented new challenges. Not least for me how to bring large buildings in my aeroplane luggage. And for Mike how to assemble large base segments without ever getting a chance to see them all together. Luckily we were able to overcome the challenges and I’m very happy with how it turned out. Apparently the TLG judges were too as we were honoured to be awarded Best in Show.
