The highly popular LEGO Ninjago The Golden Dragon 70503 is on sale for 22% off at $23.49 on Amazon. This is the lowest price I’ve seen for this set since it came out. There is also a 28% discount on LEGO Ninjago Ultra Sonic Raider Set 9449

Ninjago: 70500 Kai’s Fire Mech [Review]
Another of the sets I bought last week is the smallest of the 2013 Ninjago sets. This is the last wave of Ninjago sets before Legends of Chima takes its place as the go-to theme for battling minifig games, and I’ll be sad to see it go.
Now, I didn’t follow the mythos of Ninjago, or watch the show, so I can’t tell you a lot of backstory about the theme beyond the very broad strokes, but it’s sure included some sweet sets, and 70500 Kai’s Fire Mech is definitely one of them.
The set contains a small mech and two minifigures, and feels like a bargain with 102 pieces and a USD $9.99 MSRP. The mech is basically the little sibling of the previous wave’s Samurai Mech,
which is my favorite set of 2012. The mech is built with ball joints, which allow it quite a lot of pose-ability. Add to that the full-fingered left-hand, and this is probably Lego’s best mech of this size.
The gold highlights are terrific, especially since so many of them are weapons, which are always useful. This is also the cheapest set thus far to include the new inverted 2×2 tiles. All of the printed parts except for the minifigs are stickers, which I didn’t apply, even though they do look very nice. The only new piece here is the fire mech’s sword, which is transparent yellow infused with transparent neon orange, for quite a cool effect. Here are photos of the inventory pages, for those who are interested.
The minifigs look great. Kai has a snazzy black and red outfit, which is just generic enough to be useful for other themes.
The bad guy has a fantastic grimacing visage reminiscent of the masks samurai wore to look fearsome, and a red quiver and hat, both of which are new in that color to this wave of sets. Both minifigs have back printing.
My verdict: this set is a winner. If you’re a fan of Ninjago, mechs, or good Lego deals, you should pick this one up. I enjoyed it so much, I’ve already bought two.
High-res pictures of new 2013 Ninjago and Legends of Chima LEGO sets
Brickshelf user grogall has high-res pictures of the new Ninjago and Legends of Chima sets. Lego did a great job of making some really interesting minifigs and increasing the availability of olive green elements.

LEGO free shipping extended, 2012 NinjaGo out now [News]
The LEGO Shop online has extended its free shipping (with guaranteed delivery before Christmas) several more days, through December 18. They’ve also reduced the minimum purchase from $99 to $49.
And since I missed it earlier, NinjaGo gets a refresh in 2012 with a bunch of funky sets, which are all out a few weeks early.
LEGO Toy Story 40% off, summer sets & LEGO Shop promos [News]
The final batch of summer LEGO sets has rolled off the truck at the LEGO Shop online, joined by heavily discounted LEGO Toy Story sets and several summer promotional items.
NinjaGo gets a refresh with some interesting creature-based sets, starting with this lovely brown dragon in 2509 Earth Dragon Defense.
All LEGO Toy Story sets are 40% off — or more, in the case of rock-bottom prices for magnets — and many of these are pretty nice parts packs for the price. My personal favorite Toy Story set is 7599 Garbage Truck Getaway, with a surprisingly interesting build (for a line clearly targeted the movie’s target demographic) plus lots of nice dark green parts.
On to the promos. First up, you get a free microscale Hogwarts Express when you buy the LEGO Harry Potter set 10217 Diagon Alley. It’s an awesome set in the spirit of the modular buildings line, so every LEGO fan should have Diagon Alley, even if you’re not also a Harry Potter fan.
Finally, you get a free Alien Conquest dude with a jetpack with any purchase over $35.
FBTB covers 2011 LEGO Star Wars & more from Toy Fair 2011 in NYC [News]
Though The Brothers Brick couldn’t make it to New York this year for Toy Fair, our friends over at FBTB attended both the press event and the full show, to bring everyone great pictures of new and upcoming LEGO sets.
A few quick highlights…
LEGO Star Wars returns to Episode I: The Phantom Menace with a number of new sets that refresh designs from 10 or more years ago, including podracers and Darth Maul’s Sith Infiltrator.
LEGO expands its Disney/Pixar line with a System-scale Cars theme.
I’m personally most intrigued by the new Alien Conquest theme, which, if it’s anything like Agents or NinjaGo, has serious potential to be rather awesome. (Xenophobic blah blah blah. I’ll apologize on behalf of humanity when the little green men show up at my front door.)
Check out all of the different themes on FBTB.net.

NinjaGo, LEGO Star Wars, and most 2011 LEGO sets now available [News]
Though this is for US & Canada only at the moment, nearly all of the first quarter 2011 LEGO sets are now available from the LEGO Shop online. As if that’s not enough of a temptation, you can still order in time for Christmas.
We here at The Brothers Brick are irrationally excited about what looks to be the silliest — and most awesome — of the 2011 themes. Fraukinder and mannkinder, I give you NinjaGo!
The premise appears to be that several brightly colored ninjas take on an army of undead in single combat using a technique called “spinjutsu”.
Seriously, how awesome is that? And don’t miss the ear-worm that is the NinjaGo theme song.
The 2011 LEGO City police sets feature a new dog, backpack, and crowbar.
And of course, the 2011 LEGO Star Wars sets are also now available — not least of which the ever-popular battle packs.
Though I have yet to see a single episode of The Clone Wars, I’m intrigued by this non-gray Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship:
Finally, 10217 Diagon Alley will be shipping on January 1st, and is currently available for pre-order:
Download the NinjaGo theme song – “The Weekend Whip” by The Fold [MP3]
The NinjaGo theme song has been generating a lot of talk recently and I, for one, like it.
The NinjaGo website has been up for a while now on LEGO.com, playing “The Weekend Whip” by The Fold (thanks to Paul Lee for identifying the artist and song name).
For those of you who think the song is as awesome as we do, LEGO has kindly shared the song for everyone to download.

We’ll host the MP3 right here on The Brothers Brick for now, so download away!
