Tanks and fighter planes, dioramas of World War II battles, dreadnoughts and battleships — LEGO builders have an obvious fascination with the arms and armor of the military-industrial complex. Find all these LEGO weapons of mass destruction right here on The Brothers Brick.

A minute in the bathroom...

…depends on which side of the door you’re on. Check out this funny vignette by pepik.

Focke-Wulf fw190 a-4

The sky’s the limit with KV Draugaer’s Focke-Wulf. Its quite a faithful reproduction and looks really swooshable too! I want to grab it and go running around the house making engine noises…

I need one of these...

This Fennek by Cole Blaq is da bomb! Well, it’s really a Light Armoured Reconnaissance Vehicle, but you know what I mean. That camo job is pretty nifty too. Very nice job of recreating this burly vehicle!

Storming Normandy in a miniature Landing Craft

The Landing Craft the Allies used to storm the beaches of Normandy were definitely not this adorable.

Nevertheless, this tiny diorama by Nick D.M. (DarthNick) includes plenty of action. The splash of cannon and the *piff* of machine gun fire on the sand are excellent touches.

Peter rolls out the Champion MBT

Peter, aka Shadow Viking, has a really good-looking tank. Clean lines, positions for two figs, and freakin’ big gun…what more could you want?

EH-191 Whirlwind military chopper by Aleksander Stein

A LEGO military model you probably can’t buy is this dark green beauty by Aleksander Stein.

EH-191 Whirlwind helicopter

The helicopter can seat ten minifigs (2 crew, 8 troops) and has internal lighting. I find the unique shape of the blades particularly noteworthy.

See more in Aleksander’s EH-191 Whirlwind photoset on Flickr. (Hat-tip to reader Kaupuan.)

BrickMania releases custom Panzer IV Ausf. G. LEGO tank kit [News]

LEGO Blacksmith ShopThe most frequent question we get from LEGO builders is How do I get blogged? But for all of you out there who read The Brothers Brick to see what we builders do, one of your most common questions is “Where can I buy that?” The answer is usually “You can’t.”

Daniel Siskind of BrickMania was one of the first LEGO fans to create and sell custom LEGO sets of his own design, way back in 1999 or 2000. After a five-year hiatus, Dan recently began producing new custom kits.

The Panzer IV Ausf. G. tank kit from World War II comes in Afrikakorps tan, with a unique BrickArms prototype MG42 machine gun.

Dan’s Panzer tank kit includes 690 pieces and sells for $99.95 with instructions on CD.

ICON Class Command Mech by Brian Kescenovitz

Brian Kescenovitz (Mondaynoodle) contributed a number of mecha and vehicles from his Dawn Forge theme to Keith Goldman’s Zero Hour on Highway 44. Among the ones he’s posted so far, my favorite is this ICON Class Command Mech:

Those feet and the Gatling gun are awesome. See more on MOCpages and Brickshelf.

Halo Hornet shoots down enemy Banshees

Stephen Chao (obscurance) constructs an accurate model of the Hornet aircraft from Halo. As someone who enjoys the game, seeing one of these makes me want to take it to the skies and shoot down some enemy Banshees.

Hr-18 Interceptor and Hr-22 Attack Fighter by Dr. X

Hr-18 InterceptorAs Dan mentioned a few days ago about his Tsing pair of starfighters, Johnny Frye (Dr. X) works hard to improve his LEGO creations.

Johnny’s Hr-18 Interceptor (right) was very cool, to be sure, but by creating an Hr-22 Attack Fighter variant in different colors (below), he made the design truly pop.

Hr-22 Attack Fighter

Johnny doesn’t build to get blogged (and nor should you), but it’s this kind of commitment to improvement that earns our respect.

Pyrefyre’s hardsuit is harder, particularly when apocafied

LEGO post-apoc hardsuit by Pyrefyre

Alvaro Gunawan (Pyrefyre) has been churning out cool variants on a hardsuit he designed, including this post-apoc version. With minifig legs for arms, it’s fully articulated, and has even inspired some excellent cover versions, like an Armored Paratrooper by KryptonHeidt.

Most recently, Alvaro posted the GSF-702 “Bumblebee”:

I love the slight twist to the rotors, and true to its name, the gun swivels forward from the rear:
