Some say “Go big or go home!” but it takes real talent to compress something down to just a few studs and still keep it recognizable. Of course, many of the micro models we feature here aren’t so small after all, whether it’s a vast cityscape or starship.

LEGO Wall-E roundup #2

Even though Pixar’s Wall-E didn’t dominate the box office this past weekend, our lovable robotic hero continues to dominate the hearts and imaginations of LEGO builders.

First up, Wall-E Directing Animator Angus MacLane adds to his collection of LEGO Wall-E models at three different scales. Here’s a mini Wall-E:

Angus’s micro Wall-E has a two-brick cooler, while his nanoscale Wall-E is accompanied by a nanoscale Eve:

Not to be outdone by Mark Sandlin, Chris Giddens gets in some some Wall-E action:

Andrew Lee takes his inspiration from Chris Giddens (with three-brick cooler), while Steve and his son Adam use gears for my favorite Hal so far:

Jimmy may have been the first person to build a LEGO Wall-E (back in February), and his recent vignette depicts Eve zooming around the devastated landscape:

Lindsay Joy‘s Wall-E shows off his dance moves, and Ted Godwin provides instructions for his microscale version:

Finally, the BlueToothKiwi team has posted the inevitable MINDSTORMS NXT version (via MINDSTORMS NXT Review and The NXT STEP):

EDIT: Samus11 gives Wall-E a boot and a cooler (thanks castlebuilder100!):

Mini ARC-170 Starfighter

Check out this custom mini ARC-170 Starfighter by C. K. Yee, who used either stickers or decals or both to decorate this creation to resemble the die cast model.

DARKspawn enters the void of microspace

Multi-theme master Aaron Andrews tries his hand at a microscale space creation:

With a great color scheme and appropriate asymmetry, I’d have to say that Aaron’s first foray into microspace is a rip-roaring success.

Tim Goddard sends in the clones

Tim Goddard adds a new microscale LEGO Star Wars diorama to his Mustaneer set with this great scene from the Clone Wars:

The brick-built smoke effects are great — especially where the laser beams rake across the ground. Tim’s microscale vehicles always good, but I love the red-white-and-blue Republic Gunship.

Tim Goddard’s LEGO Star Wars Imperial base

Tim “RogueBantha” Goddard has made quite a name for himself with his microscale LEGO Star Wars creations.

Tim’s latest is a modular Imperial base called Mustaneer (not to be confused with the far more distant Mustafar):

The base has a rack for a squadron of TIE fighters, a landing pad for an Imperial shuttle or landing craft, and an AT-AT garage. Even cooler, the AT-AT garage doors open and close on tracks:

There are lots more photos in Tim’s Imperial base photoset on Flickr.

Juggernaut Fortress microship

Jerak uses brown in his most recent creation to construct a heavily armed micro spaceship called the Juggernaut Fortress, based off the Clairconctlar Pinnacle. It is worth checking out the bottom of the ship, equally full of details as the top and in my opinion wouldn’t look so awkward to be cruising upside down.

Rong Yiren micros the Emperor’s arrival at the Death Star

In our third LEGO Star Wars post of the day, Rong Yiren depicts Emperor Palpatine’s arrival aboard the Death Star, in ultra-microscale:

Shannonia the beautiful

Shannon Young‘s famous microcity called Shannonia underwent a huge expansion recently, resulting in the most beautiful stage of its evolution so far, now with topographic features such as the ocean and shoreline. To appreciate the current status of the city, one ought to see the history of Shannonia and its humble beginnings. The best part is that Shannonia is still growing and is forecasted to double its size at BrickCon in October.

Enter the Pantheon of Eternal Solitude

Capturing the lines of Classical Greek architecture at minifig scale is challenging enough, but Mastergongfu has done so quite nicely at microscale:

Thanks for the e-mail, mastergongfu!

The Dragon heats up the cold void of space

Brickshelf user czekoladowyboss‘s newest build is a massive microscale space battle-ship called the Dragon. In addition to the bold red and black coloring, some other distinguishing features include the ribbed patterns and the docking bays for its smaller companion vessels. Check out the full gallery for some more great details.

498 Command Frigate by Aaron Becker

Following up on his minifig-scale “488 Galaxy Scout” we featured yesterday, Aaron Becker (Flickr) goes microscale with “498 Command Frigate”:

Once again, Aaron demonstrates that it’s not about the size of your collection…

Defending Earth in the Endymion Starship

Check out Brickshelf user Havoc‘s impressive microscale starship called the Endymion, meant for the defense of Earth against alien attacks. Take note of the planned and non-haphazard use of colors, which in my opinion is one of the defining factors of a skilled builder. A second ship from the builder is to be announced in a few months, and we look forward to that.
